Any news about v5?

JD's word at face value? I'd love it if JD just came out with some more words. He stated he would blog the progress of V5 here : http://jdtllc.wordpress.com/Since there hasn't been an entry for 18 months one can only assume there is no progress.I personally believe that some personal issues have arisen for the developer and that has presented him with problems completing development. If thats the case thats fine but I fail to see why an announcment can't be made to that effect. In the blog JD made updates on 19 August 09, 21 August 09 and 2 Sep 09. Three updates in three weeks. Then 18 months of nothing. Bobby I hope you don't work in customer service.Kael
Guys, I am not going to drag this out, but JD will make an announcement later this summer, for now please give him a break. BTW, Kael I was a 2nd level manager over a large team of customer service, I think I know a little bit about the subject. Lecture not required.Bob

Sorry to say that I have watched 3 different forums, 3 different developers, with 3 different products all get pounded in the same manner in the last few weeks. I am going to suggest that developers go back to the olden days when the first word of a product was the day it was released. That will quickly end all this rubbish about news and updates and blogs and tweets and second guessing and keep us informed. Only in the software industry do we seem to need to know what is going on, on a regular basis.

I respect that!!! Do you think that developers should string along people for years then disappear into vaporware? Example is the Dream Fleet DC-8. Announced years ago then Aerosim cameout with a DC-8 but not near the quality of the Dream Fleet 727. People didn't buy the Aerosim product waiting for the Dream Fleet that never happened... Jim what if I announced this fantastic Weather Program that would blow the doors off of ASE right before you launched yours with real nice screen shots and people waited for it instead of buying yours??? If developers were just honest and open they would probably get more respect. When starting a project and deciding on features set a deadline for release. If there is a problem with that commitment then announce it before hand. Easy as that right? How long does a new simulator take to develop?

Ha Ha. I agree with alot of what you just said but run rwymkr some time in RC. What is there some thing like 56,000 runways!!! Out of thos probably 2/3 are ILS. Well for everyone of those the approaches need to be programed in. I was playing a war game last year (can't remember which one) but I wanted to change somethings so I went into the code. I changed 3 weapons the way I wanted them out of hundreds and it took me almost two days to get it where I wanted it. That was just two little items. Sorry, but yes there is alot of work in these programs.

Jeff, does your local car company keep you up to date every day/week/month on where they are at with your next car? How about your favorite TV company. Do they blog and post and inform you about every little step? And let's not forget everyone's favorite target, your computer's operating system company. How many tweets did Bill and company send you when Vista and Win 7 were under development? You knew about them, right? But you didn't get updates, reasons for delays, or anything like that and in none of these cases did it stop you in your purchasing did it? I can hear it now: "My car company refuses to keep me informed so I am switching to another company." Ya, right, sure you are.

You should hope REX is not developing ATC addon as some suggest. And for the more important thing... Czech beer is the best.. Staropramen, Pilsner Urquell, Budweiser Budvar,... it's all good :(

On the contrary I think it's an area which is too neglected in the market. More competition would be good. I'd like to see what they can come up with, but I doubt if they've yet realised what they would be taking on, if in fact they are.

Yes, those are quite good when on draught, but I'd tend towards the smaller companies. There are two excellent microbreweries in Prague which both do a range of their own excellent beers, and good food too: try Pivovarsky Dum. Generally I find the beers in most of Eastern Europe to be of excellent quality -- Poland also has a vast range of delicious beers, as have Slovakia, Hungary, and Slovenia. Even Sofia, in Bulgaria, has a brew house which does four delicious beers (Kmetsko Pivo), but go early as it turns into a nightmarish disco later in the evening -- not conducive to serious partaking at all!We always seek out the microbreweres or "brauhauses" when we are travelling. Of course there are so many in Germany and Austria than one loses count (or is it the beer affecting the memory?)! ;-)Pete

I can hear you, Pete! beer.gif
and Slovenia.
You know our beer (I'm from Slovenia)? We drink Union and Lasko all the time :Party:I go to Prague every year, food and beer are among the reasons.. thanks for advice, I'll try those next time.Yes, I agree, competition is a good thing on the market and there is huge lack of quality ATC addons. For me, it's only one, RC4, but I believe that some people enjoy the other one or two also. But nobody knows if REX is actually doing ATC, those are just speculations..

Yes. Draft Temno Lasko is a nice tasty dark beer. There are smaller brew houses in Ljubljana: Piwnica Kratochwill is good -- or at least it was a few years ago. Unfortunately last time I was in Slovenia (a few weeks ago) we stayed in Bled, not the capital. But the fantastic scenery in and around Bled made up for having no Kratochwill beer! ;-)

But how did they start? Someone must have said something, surely?RegardsPete

Wow.. I didn't mention this one because I would never thought you know about it :) I see you really know your beer! :(

Not quite sure.. people are guessing, speculating about all sorts of things.. ATC is just one of those things, one of more probable ones I guess. I pretty sure people from REX didn't start this.

Jim,I drive a 2007 dodge charger srt8 I knew exactly when it was going to be "released". I'm looking at a 2012 300 srt8. Ordering just opened up with a "release" date of Third quarter 2011. When I order it I will get a build date and vin#. • All-new Chrysler 300 SRT8® with its 6.4-liter HEMI® V-8 offers ultimate combination of world-class luxury and performance in Chrysler's most powerful, best-handling sedan ever• All-new Chrysler 300S Series brings a youthful and aggressive appearance with athletic style and sophistication• With premium materials and world-class refinement, the all-new 300C Executive Series is the most luxurious Chrysler sedan ever• Three all-new models bring uniquely distinct personalities to the Chrysler flagship sedan's 2012 model lineup• Available in Chrysler showrooms in third quarter 2011So how many customers would they have if they said were releasing it and it's none of your business or we don't care what you think and we will do what we please. Oh and they let out press releases too along the way during development such as spy photos and features options horse power. I like and respect you Jim but the pay ware model has to change. I looks like the hobby is dying slowly. Fancon canceled. Seems like forums have less traffic. Freeware is less....

Righto. Well my car company may not provide anybody with an update day by day or week by week, but they do release information each quarter about new and upcoming models. And in addition they of course have a release date for all their products. Nobody here is asking for a day by day week by week update, but once in 18 months would be nice. Same goes with TV programs. Same goes with plenty of software producers. Its clear that JD isn't going to make any comment and that, as I said right at the top, is his prerogative. I think its poor form and disappointing. Obviously some people don't and believe that this is an acceptable level of service. To each their own.Regards,Kael

Its NOT going to be released!!! Cant we just come to that conclusion...case closed...sleep.gifHopefully we can get another developer to come along and pick up the pieces...I do agree that this is a money maker in this hobby. Its not all about sceneries and add on aircraft

I like RC 4 and have been anxious to buy RC 5. And that what have prevented me from buying PFE. However, I think RC's developers are not obligated to me or anybody else. If they released RC5 and it was buggy and in need of a patch then that a whole different story. I have had so many questions and issues with RC4(mostly fixable), JD and Ronzie have been prompt in helping and supporting.
