July 30, 201114 yr There was one issue regarding tail vs. flight numbers. That had to do with UT2 which spawns AI as needed. As I recall UT2 AI only supplied a tail number until a runway was assigned or something like that. I don't recall the state if that was resolved by a change in UT2 or FSUIPC or both. Speaking of UT2, insure that AI spawning distance is set to maximum so RC will correctly identify AI runway use when the approach phase starts.
July 30, 201114 yr Why on Earth would it not include this when RC V4 does it? Are you thinking that all V4 facilities are going to be withdrawn? What even makes you ask such a question? It makes no sense to me! V5 would be intended to be an advance over V4, not a complete regression! Else what's the point? PetePete, because I have no RC V4 on my PC. Iam looking forward for V5.

July 31, 201114 yr Commercial Member Huh? I never said any of that. I was responding to Jim...And as you would see if you referred back to my post, I was clearly responding to "artair", as it said in the quote.PetePete, because I have no RC V4 on my PC. Iam looking forward for V5.But you were already told that RC V4 provides the airline and flights in its calls, so why would it not be in V5? If I were you I'd get V4. No one knows when V5 will be available, if ever, nor what improvements it might bring, if any. V4 offers a lot more than any other ATC effort already. August 1, 201114 yr Well said Bob. All that acrimony serves no purpose and ultimately can damage developers' morale. Posters really should understand that a customer base must be one in which developers can have faith, as well as the customers having faith in the developers. Kind regards,Dave As a extremely new and small (Just me) developer. (I'm not sure I'd even call me a developer) what DAVE_MORGAN said is absolutely true. It sends shivers down my spine to read all of this. Why would anyone want to get into this business? It's definitely not for wealth. Every other video game out there does it? Look at the developers of other video game titles? They give regular press releases with screenshots. Microsoft is even doing it with Flight. This is one for the books. How can you even say such a thing? Ok.. lets take UBISOFT. First look at this http://www.ecobook.eu/ubisoft/ra2010uk/chap0.pdf The Highiights: Over a BILLION in sales! (Actually lost money last year) 1000's of employees! And, if you read the report, take a close look at this. From the report section 1.1.7.1.3"The third quarter of the financial year represents, on average, 51 % of annual sales over the last three financial years. In a very competitive and above all seasonal market, increasingly characterized by the need to release big hits, the announcement of a delay in releasing an expected game may have a negative impact on the Group’s income and future results and thus on the performance of its share price. A game’s launch may be delayed by the difficulty in accurately predicting the time required to develop or test it. This year, Ubisoft (like most other operators in the sector) had to delay several games, including, in particular, Red Steel® 2 and Splinter Cell ConvictionTM.The launch of a game below the standard required for it to fully realize its potential can negatively impact the Company’s results. This is the case with sales of the game James Cameron’s Avatar: The GameTM, which have been lower than expected.Whether in the organization of its teams or ongoing research into improving development processes, Ubisoft relies on the efficiency of its in-house expertise and synergies between its studios in order to anticipate these risks and alert the management teams as necessary." Even huge corporations have troubles. They have millions upon millions of dollars and 1000's of man hours to throw at it. And they still have problems releasing titles on time! I also would like to throw you over to the FS DREAMTEAM Forum and take a look at their KLAX Developers back door Forum. http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=5gi5c6fkhipifckt51mcp47i87&board=42.0 They have tons of screenshots like you say. But no actual release date. Does that appease anyone on that board? No. There are daily posts..."When will it be out..." "Why can't you give us a release date...." nag nag nag. We can't compare Third party FS Developers to huge corporations like this and have the same expectations. It's just unfair. I'm not sure how many people are working on RCv5 (Could only be JD himself). But, all of us as a very small market, need to wake up and realize that the developers for our hobby have lives. And, when someone like JD scores a hit with RCv4 and then announces he's working on RCv5, we can't constantly nag him about when it will be ready. And, Where is all the anger pointed at JD coming from really? As an armchair therapist it doesn't take a genius to see that people are frustrated by Microsoft all together. JD made that announcement two years ago. Well, much has happened to our base platform since then. As Pete just said, "V4 offers a lot more than any other ATC effort already." I should say he knows his ATC programs. And beer. So, sit back, relax, pop a cold one (Oh I forgot some guys in Europe don't like cold beer) and fly your plane. And, if or when JD announces the release of RCv5, lets raise a glass to him and give him a hardy "Here Here"! Jim
August 2, 201114 yr Its not about the fact that we don't know the release date and that people are upset/anxious because of it as much as it is about us not knowing if the software is still being developed. Sure FSDT is taking a while on LAX but there is no way you could tell me that if they announce they are doing it and then 7 months or MORE like in this case goes by without any word or screenshots like in FSDTs case and nobody is going to complain or be anxious. The problem with developers doing this and I think everyone would agree is that If a particular one commits to making a scenery/addon and goes public with it, it pretty much lets anyone else know not to try and compete and release something similar or exactly like it hence why Blueprint Simulations get away with what they do because their work isnt on the level of the bigger developers i.e. not similar. ( I like Blueprint BTW) The flightsim world is not like the real world of competitiveness for customers because developers don't compete doing the same addons. Everyone is a hobbyist on this forum. Therefore you would never see Flytampa and lets say Flightbeam doing the same airports at the same time. The point im trying to make is if a developer announces a product and doesn't release it then we wonder wow another developer could have released something like Radar Contact by now. If FSDT announces LAX and 2 years goes by everyone is going to be thinking Flightbeam, etc could have done LAX if FSDT didn't bluff on us like that. This is a hobby so i don't expect developers to be pushing out products left and right. This inst a career by any means and doesn't put food on JD's table for his family im sure. However 2 years without any updates what so ever?? Get real and I don't see the argument or point of view anybody is trying to make for JD not saying anything. Obviously its a FREE world to some degree therefore he has every right to stay mute about the subject but it falls nothing more or less than that. Since when in the flightsim community is No News Good News? I think never. Do I think we will ever see V5? Yes I do and I'm over the fact that no updates have been given but the argument that you guys are trying to make to defend that decision to not say anything in 2 years is comical and this thread needs to be locked honestly and anybody asking for updates on V5 that post should be deleted right away because for 2 years its lead to the same thing.... absolutely nothing. I'm personally going to think of the glass as half full and think on the positive side since whenever someone has a problem with V4 JD does pop his head in to give help therefore at least we know hes still around like all of us. V4 really is still good and it will be a bitter sweet day when we finally have to retire it for V5 or similar payware.
August 2, 201114 yr Jim, How I can say such a thing you say? Take a look at the MS Flights forum and look for your self. Go to a Game Stop and have a look for yourself. Look on line and look for your self. That is how I can say most software developers outside of FS do give anticipated release dates and provide updates during development. As far as Ubisoft, I don't know how them losing money has to do with the price of tea in China. But I'll go along and post this From www.gaming bits.com in regards to marking new releases and keeping customers informed. That's all we want but in the dying FS community that is to much to ask."Located in the Exhibit Hall at #4245, Ubisoft’s booth will feature a special stage for consumers to get down with Just Dance3, the latest iteration of America’s favorite dance game, which will be available on all platforms this fall, and Rabbids: Alive & Kicking, a zany, wild and humorous collection of mini games the whole family can enjoy. Booth visitors also will have an opportunity to play Rayman Origins for the first time before the game’s release later this year. Rayman Origins is a high-definition 2-D side-scrolling platforming adventure featuring full 4-player co-op. Additionally, Rayman Origins fans can win a free T-shirt by checking in on Facebook at the Rayman Origins billboard at 6th Avenue & F Street, in the Gaslamp quarter, and then claim their prize at Ubisoft’s booth. Other prizes will be given away at the booth, including special pre-order discounts and incentives on the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Revelations and Just Dance 3 releases. In addition to Ubisoft’s booth, Ubisoft is teaming with Break Media and NBC star Zachary Levi’s company The Nerd Machine to build out a “Nerd HQ” in downtown San Diego, from July 21-24. At the “Nerd HQ,” fans will gather to celebrate nerd culture and will have the chance to play Rayman Origins. Finally, on Saturday, July 23, from 3–4 p.m. in Room 25ABC, the writers behind Assassin’s Creed Revelations will discuss and answer questions about the thrilling fourth installment in the critically acclaimed entertainment franchise during the “Assassin’s Creed: The Creation of a Universe” panel. The panel will explore how the Ubisoft Montreal development team has created the Assassin’s Creed universe, which weaves real world history and global conspiracies into an ancient war between Assassins and Templars across a variety of media. Attendees will be treated to a behind-the-scenes look at how Ezio’s final journey will unfold as he walks in the footsteps of his legendary mentor, Altair, on a perilous journey of doubt and discovery. Additionally, attendees will get to watch an exclusive preview of the animated short film Assassin’s Creed Embers. Panelists will include the creators of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Revelations game, animated short film and comic. Adam Sessler, host of G4TV’s X-Play, will moderate the panel."
August 2, 201114 yr I had RC3 and enjoyed it. Went off to other things. I have wrestled with getting RC4 but, from the forum, there are some issues with it and some features it needs. Thus I have periodically looked at this forum for updates. The updates will determine my decision to buy the next release. No updates for a very long time simply sends a strong signal to stay away from the product. Either there is an arrogance issue, a health issue, financial issue etc. Those are none of our business. However. an author, who has a chance to make some money would, absent those issues, periodically appear and update the anxious future customers - read revenue stream. Reading this forum does not tell me to buy the product even if its release was next week. If support is handled in this manner that is a giant red flag. I will just hang in and see what Flight and X-Plane 10 have to offer. My desire to have RC5 has evaporated in the same manner as the author's interest in his product. regards, Dick near Pittsburgh, USA
August 2, 201114 yr My feelings exactly. I used RC3 as well and loved it. I've been waiting to see what V5 has to offer. As time passes however I'm starting to wonder if JD, for whatever reasons, has decided to not continue with the development of V5. rpm.
August 2, 201114 yr Support for the product has been second to none. I bought the first version of RC many moons ago to see how it compared to Pro Flight. At that time the voices were awful. I used it a couple of times and while it had a good concept it lacked to Pro Flight. I stayed away from RC for many years. I used Pro Flight Emulator then just default ATC with edit voice pack. I decided to give RC 4.3 a try a few months ago and have been impressed with how far it has come. The voices are still limited even with the meat water packs installed. The lack of AI interaction and ground control are also a downfall. Its a shame that JD cannot get more people involved in voice sets like PFE has been able to do. Having different advances and dialects from around the world in PFE is really nice. Default MS ATC is able to interact with AI and have ground control. Radar Contact makes up its shortfalls with realistic procedures and flight reviews. The first version of RC to what 4.3 has become is night and day. I was looking forward to v5. I don't know what JD's reasons are. If this is how he wants to run his business that up to him. It's a shame that so many FS developers do this. Some of the arrogance and condescending replies are very disappointing from pay ware developers. I have and will never buy a PMDG product because of it. In mainstream video games you would never see game developers treat customers like that. Like I have said many times, developers of platforms other than FS interact with customers in regards to new software. They provide regular updates and release time frames where in FS they don't. I'm still waiting for the level d 757 and dream fleet dc-8 for FS9 it's been years for that too. But again an update or explanation would be nice for CUSTOMERS who have supported your products instead of nothing or sarcastic condescending comments....

August 15, 201114 yr Dear team! Will V5 include different FL system for appropriate countries? For example flight levels in Ukraine (above TA - ft, below TL - meters. By the way the same for Russia from November 2011).
August 16, 201114 yr I can't believe what I'm reading on this thread. I have to guess that most add-on developers, like JD, have real lives with real families and real 40+ hour/week jobs. Sales of radar contact certainly aren't going to pay the bills, unlike autos and electronics, so I'm guessing he does this because, for him, this is how he takes his hobby to the next level. Thankfully, we all get to benefit from his skills and hard work. Updates or not, I'm grateful to JD for helping take my flight sim experience to the next level. I appreciate the time he takes from his family and his own free time to give to us. Very selfless, and worth the $50 bargain for such a complex program.
