Are these the sort of frame rates to expect from this system?

Hi everyone,I've had my new system for a few days now, which consists of the following parts:-i5 2500k-GTX460 1GB-ASUS P8-H61-8GB RAM @ 1333MHZ-Vista Pro 64bit Anyway, I'm just wondering if 16-24 FPS (avg 19) in one of Aerosoft's Mega Airports in the Leonardo SH MD-82 or the SimCheck A300 (which may be a bit better) are to be expected, or if you think it has more to give? For example, one guy on YouTube under the pseudonym "FSXNOOB" has a very similar PC Spec to me (more CPU, less RAM) and yet even with FRAPS running, his/her setup appears perfectly smooth-here's a good example of what I'm talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trEa26la9ckThanks for your help,Charlie

Hard to say for sure but probably about right considering you are running at stock CPU speed. I am wondering why you purchased a K series CPU for extra $ and then paired it with a motherboard (H61) than cannot take advantage of the K unlocked multiplier?

HelloThat motherboard is really going to limit you.The 2500K should really be on a nice P67 or Z68 board it is wasted on that H61.Change the board and OC that CPU, it is what it is designed for.Why did you choose a board like that for a K series chip?, you are stuck at 3.3ghz till you buy a new board unfortunately.

Hey don't tell anyway but i have a secret way to increase your frame rates, i did on my Dual core 3.0 ghz.The Secret :Try Bojote's tweak smile.gif

Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus

Yes, I agree they should be looked into, but, these tweaks or combinations thereof do not work for everyone.Bob

Officially retired

The point here is with k series chip and the right mobo he could easily get another 1ghz out of that CPU. That will do way more than any tweak!

I agree 1 Ghz extra is good amount of fuel, I am not so computer hardware savvy anymore, but if it's only the cpu which is bottle necking the sim then I guess the upgrade should be beneficial. The Bojote's tweak was just a try method which I thought he should look into before putting in those extra bucks.

Hi guys,Thanks for all your time and help, I know the spec seems somewhat ridiculous, I only bought that board and RAM because a friend sold me the lot for £35 when I was building the system, and I was a little strapped for cash, I'll try bojote's tweaks, they sound really good.Anyway, that sort of FPS doesn't seem unreasonable to me, so I can definitely make do for now, plus a new board isn't the most expensive thing in the world, it's just inconvenient to change.Charlie

By comparison, Charlie - my i7 2600K strolls along at 4.8gig, frames locked at a very smooth 30, Maddog loaded at Seattle, w/ full Autogen and Scenery Complexity, heavy REX/ASE weather, midle for all traffic, OrbX PNW, FSPassengers... and so on. There's no mod on earth that will get you any kind of satisfaction at 3.3gig. Do what Mad Dog suggested. There are lots of boards under $200.

Thanks, that's what I'd love to do, what GPU do you have?

As long as it is smooth and works for you, what does it matter. Too many people worry about fps and miss a lot of great addons because of it. Too quick to hit Ctrl-Z and have a number determine your experience rather then experience the addon and make your own judgement. My frame rates are in the teens, but the sim runs smooth and I am running the PNW demo with our 182. Check out my blog on the subject, just posted it last week...

It's in my sig, Cap'n - an EVGA GTX580..KiwiKat - you have no idea what you're missing! The Maddog is a port-over which has a considerable amount of "configurability" which is capable of making the aircraft fly with no noticeable frame hit - or it can be tailored to pull the sim to its' knees. Not all "port-overs" are hard on FSX, you know - and the LH Maddog is pretty much the king of the heap in terms of systems functional authenticity. If you browse the Maddog forum for long enough you'll also find there are more r/w and retired flight crew that use the Maddog simply because of that. Its' VC is not the 'prettiest', but everything is in 3d (unlike some MD-80's) and everything works. Yes - even the circuit breakers control the functions which they're supposed to: take a look at the systems list:- http://www.flythemaddog.com/features.php.

:biggrin:They often use to record the flight at half speed (so the system has more time to load textures and the flight results so smooth), and then will double the speed during the replay. Thats the secret!Mauro

Are you getting 30FPS with the maddog, with full autogen and scenery, in PNW Seattle???? my god, i only can get 16 with QW 757... lucky man!
