October 30, 201213 yr Hello all and thanks a lot for the all the fantastic comments, I wouldn't have expected such a feedback. I am glad most of you seem to enjoy the Alaska liveries, despite the great official versions by PMDG. Bogdan, thanks for your comment. I don't own REX but I am using Active Sky as my weather engine of choice. Thanks, I am glad some notice them. I enjoy those small details and Alaska Airlines has plenty of them. The ETOPS placard was left intentionally, unfortunately during night time there are a few quirks with it but that's something I can live with. Hello John. I feel very honored getting a reply by you. I've always enjoyed your work for the PMDG 737 legacy version and the LDS 767. As much I'd like to follow your request (I had SAS on my mind too from time to time to be honest) the Alaska repaints are going to be my last ones. I have to learn to focus on other things of life again and I have promised this not only to myself . With the level of those Alaska liveries I think a good point is reached to drop the paint brush. I am sorry . Well...thanks once more for the nice feedback. Christian, If I'm reading this post correctly, it sounds like you're giving up painting the NGX or painting in FSX in general. Your talents will be sorely missed. I can definitely understand needing to take a break from it. I hope we still see you online from time-to-time. Warmest regards... Steve Steve StubbsUSAF (retired)
October 30, 201213 yr Hello, I have started doing some repaints for the NGX and, as a newbie in PSP would have just one question.. some of my repaints have logo that go from the tail down to the bottom of the fuselage.... problem, the aft fuselage is separate in the paint kit from the tail and there is no marking that helps how to make sure the paint or logo is aligned, (where to cut and restart....) don't know if you see what I mean but if you do it would be nice to help me. thanks Greg Greg, Yes, you are correct in that there are no guides or markings to help with this area. My suggestion would be to make sure the tail is accurate first. Then you want to extend the graphic along the rear fuselage and align it based on the tail image location. This does require a lot of trial and error back and forth with FSX. The issue is compounded by the fact that the center rear portion of the aft fuselage area does not simply line up and that same top center section does stretch what you paint differently from the side areas. You can use the "What is What" layer to help in this area as shown by the image below. It will give you a rough idea of where each section ends and the relative placement of the vertical tail. It's not absolute. I usually do the left side first and then just duplicate the left layers I painted and invert them for use on the right side. The example below also shows how the stripe does not line up due to the difference in the areas and the "banana peel" effect of the way it is laid out. Steve StubbsUSAF (retired)

October 31, 201213 yr Hey guys. I am just giving a brief report on what I have been working on in the last few weeks and what the last project is I'll be releasing as a repaint (time to move on for me). While working on the Alaska Airlines Starliner 75™ livery I got eager to do more Alaska repaints and with the assistiance of two fellow members here I was able to gather some information on Alaska Airlines specific details. To sum it up I ended up doing more Alaska repaints when I initially had planned, i.e. the Spirit of Seattle and the rework of the Timbers Jet. In the meantime I have added the base Alaska scheme to the list for all variants of the 737NG. I'll let the screenshots show what I've come up so far and what I am planning to release in the next days. N617AS - Boeing 737-790 including the altered and correct overwings markings for these variants. Some detail of the cockpit; the typical yoke checklist of Alaska Airlines on the left side - on the upper right corner you can see the yellow autoland placard. I haven't seen any another airline yet using a system like this. More images of the Timbers Jet (N607AS). N519AS Boeing 737-890 sporting the 'Lei' on the tail. A plain 800 version will be released too. The belly on all versions should match its real world counterpart as good as I could get it. The inverted Alaska Airlines paint - alaskaair.com (N548AS) 'Spirit of Seattle' (N512AS); note the respective decal next to the L1 door. The correct autoland and shortfield-package (SFP) placard for thise airframes who are equipped with it. Also note the weights placard for each variant. Close-up of Alaska's yoke checklist. This one was a tough one to get but it worked out.... Alaska's longest 737 version the 900 (N317AS). The two last shots show the Starliner 75™ livery again. Most of those decals had to be reworked by hand, that's the reason why I am quite proud of this livery. Lots of time and work has gone into these liveries (almost all decals etc. were done froms scratch) so I hope the images could convince everyone to download the repaints and keep them, despite the officials versions by PMDG. Now I only need to package every version and write the readme etc. Commets are welcome! P.S.: A big thanks to the person(s) who helped me getting these liveries done! They would not look like this today. Hey man thanks, I've been dieing to fly the starliner, and the others are goin in my library as well.

I am indeed surprise PMDG did not make things easier for that section... For example, i am working now with the new paintkit from Blackbox simulation Airbus, and there is a full plane template including the tail that allow an easy repaint of the entire airframe... Them we just have to copy/paste each section with markings into a single specific FSX file.... And the kit is HD they say.... Very smart from them... Thanks too much, too soon....
October 31, 201213 yr Thanks Its been a while since I've painted anything. Maybe time to come back from my hiatus. That would make a few people smile John  Graham Smith NZAA

November 2, 201213 yr Thanks Its been a while since I've painted anything. Maybe time to come back from my hiatus. It's a shame you're finishing, but I can fully understand where you're coming from. Thanks for all the wonderful paints. Enjoy whatever you do from here John, whatever you come up with it'll be worth downloading it . Christian, If I'm reading this post correctly, it sounds like you're giving up painting the NGX or painting in FSX in general. Your talents will be sorely missed. Steve Steve; I am not leaving the hobby but I am dropping that paint brush. Those repaints really went to far into my head and were consuming too much time. Something I can't legitimate anymore. Time to do some flying again, I've got a few wonderful addons installed which I finally have to check out.... I am looking forward to the repaints coming in the future by other authors like you, John, Marcelo etc... I am still planning to release the two HLX repaints plus a few updates to some released liveries. In few hours available in www.avsim.net Boeing 737-8Q8 XL AIRWAYS Operating for CONDOR Enjoy! and best regards, Marcelo Great work on that XL Airways Germany livery Marcelo! I'm preparing a visit to the coming EDDL scenery  WIP You are not the only one Ricardo...nice job on that Sterling -700. Best regards, Christian Mohr
November 2, 201213 yr Hey guys, some time ago I asked for the Hapag Lloyd 737-800 repaint. Firstly thanks for your help, but the one you found on avsim isn't the old repaint, it's the newest livery used today. I was looking for the really old one from the year 2000 or something like this. (Of course this is an old photo so in reality the colours looked quity shiny) (http://www.plane-spotting.de/HapagLloyd_737_15.JPG) I told you that there is a repaint on avsim but unfortunately it has no winglets and the colours don't look like they should do, so they aren't shiny enoungh. So maybe somebody could make a new repaint, please it would be great. Thank you
