December 23, 200322 yr Thanks for the ideas everyone, but I really fancied Geofa's idea. I'll get started on it shortly. Please keep posting suggestions though, I'll need something to do after I finish this one. :)Tims FS Studio
December 23, 200322 yr Author Something that would allow the ability to spawn a second flying object from a first one. Such as flying a B-29 containing the X-1 Glamorous Glennis. When hitting a button, you candrop it and it flys off. (or opposite...you fly the X-1)Eric AND
December 23, 200322 yr A great holiday gift would be:1) AI Taxi Speed 2) AI Taxi Speed3) AI Taxi Speed:D Cheers
December 23, 200322 yr >I would like a utility that on startup would present the user>with a series of "buttons" that could be customized for>different performance settings-and then load fs with these>settings.>>e.g. Button #1 IFR (loads fs with autogen and ai traffic>turned off)> Button #2 High vfr (loads with everything maxed)> Button #3 Med vfr (loads with sliders in mid range)> Button #4 Aerobatic (loads with autogen, ai traffic, > weather turned all the way down)> Button #5 Megascenery (settings customized for this>product)> etc.Yeah-- I'm with you on this one Geofa!! Problem is that I want it ALL when I am flying -- this is going to force me to make a decision on what setting I will use :)Barry
December 23, 200322 yr A gauge to switch the antialiasing mode on-the-fly, also programmable to do that automatic if the FPS drop below certain level.Thank's
December 23, 200322 yr Hey Tim!A utility that would provide a Co-Pilot function would be awesome. It is very difficult to have a wife, sleep, do honey-do's, blah, blah, blah, while trying to cross the ponds and make it in time to land. Such utility would also do away with the IFR flight plan being cancelled if you don't answer ATC. I know that there are some programs out there that provide this function but, 1. They are payware, and 2. they come bundled with other stuff I'm not interested in.Hope this helps! Thanks!Dennis D. Mullert Sincerely, Dennis D. December 23, 200322 yr Tim,Thank you for the kind offer. To echo another post, a copilot would be great. Simplistically this copilot should handle the radios (tune, answer, call), and fly the plane (takeoff, cruise, land). For a real challenge, it would be great to have a utility that would allow one to take an airplane designed for FS2002 or before, and adjust its parameters (either aircraft.cfg or it's .air file) to make it within FS9's weight & balance. December 23, 200322 yr There is a trick to the IFR cancellation problem that works in 2002, but I don't know about 2004. When you get a handoff to the next center, acknowledge it and tune, but do NOT contact the center. That way, you won't be bothered by anyone saying, "Speedbird 242, please contact...," so you can concentrate on "Honey, please take out the..."
December 23, 200322 yr I think that an aircraft viewer would be cool. There is a similar beast for NASCAR Racing 2002 and 2003 by Sierra/Papyrus. Essentially what it does is allow you to see your car paint job without starting the game. It uses the files from the game, assembles the car model, and puts your paint file on the car. It loads quickly, and allows for zooming and mouse dragging of the model. This makes painting a car much less painful since it is very easy to check the allignment of the paint job, and since it is only the model of the car, the "car viewer" loads very quickly when compared to the full game. This would be nice to have for painting aircraft.Tim13
December 23, 200322 yr Something that would turn off aircraft/building shadows anytime the weather is cloudy, like 6/8s cover. and converesly, would turn them on again if weather gets clearer.EytanLLHA
December 23, 200322 yr I like the idea of having some add-on dealing with career or the life of a pilot. Something like you start off as private pilot (it could also be configurable to start as student, commercial, atp...) and then gives you a series of "missions" (like: you fly to the coast to pick your mother-in-law, you get a job flying skydivers, going back in time and flying mail in a biplane...). You would grow in your career as you fly and could eventually choose between airline flying, bush flying, corporate...The add-on would then record all the data (including stress to engines, airframe, landing gear) of a given flight and then it could upload it to a website so other people could see (or rate or compete...) how good the pilot is. We could see a community of different pilots with different skills and how they're doing.
December 24, 200322 yr Author I'd like a wysiwyg utility tied to FS, like AFCAD, that would be used to create either exclude areas or flatten areas. I'd like to be able to draw a freeform bounding box and create the exclude/flatten file based on that box. I think this would be amazingly useful for both scenery developers and casual users who just want to fix anomalies in their own sim.Eric AND
December 24, 200322 yr Something to adjust the taxi speed of AI aircraft is needed by many of us with products like Ultimate Traffic. I hate to see 3 planes all trying to land at the same time and then 2 of them pulling off for go arounds in formation. Mabey a taxi speed program will get slow traffic off the runways faster allowing other traffic to land. Another idea is a program that allows ATC set a standard space btween traffic so AI does not start to bunch up together. I dont know if any of what I said can be done, but it sure would be nice to have.:-) Regan
