Throttle Quadrant 2D panel missing?

Featured Replies

Additionally with a 2D cockpit I never miss a knob/switch with the mouse because the 2D view doesn't move like the VC does with its simulated head movement. Even if you turn off VC head movement your seat position still moves in large banks and you have to reset.
It would be nice if the cursor in the 3D cockpit were "magnetically" linked to the surfaces you move it over, this would have eliminated the problem.

My honest opinion?. I think that this model need a 2D Throttle panel.

I second the motion !!!!

Yes IMO its a different story when you're in flight and following a complex SID/STAR... My dual screen 2D configuration lets me concentrate on the procedure without needing to switch viewpoints in the VC.
EXACTLY -- or, alternativly, use VC with a Track-IR ( if that is within budget) Geoff90% 2D 10% VC (No track IR) .. keep blowing my TrackIR savings on other Addons !!

I would like the 2d quadrant as well, but... I have found the VC view presets are actually quite good and put you right where you need to be. I guess that doesn't really help the multiple monitor people though.

I could not understand your point, Rob. Do you mind to explain in other way?
I just meant that it was difficult for me too see why VC-users want so badly to get rid of 2D panels... the panels doens't even ruin their VC-experience.

Praying.gif But fuel cut off levers, trim and parking break will suffice if you ask me...

Now I see your point. It's really hard to understand the VC-users. It's a matter of preference, doesn't mean that their is better than ours. It's just different! About the fuel cut off, trim and parking... THAT'S A SHAME! Still cant believe that they didn't make this. I really don't mind about Throttles. They're useless since the TO/GA button is hidden into the MCP (screw beside the FD).

i'd just like to know how i can bind a joystick key to the cut-offs and i'd ALMOST be happy.

With my 2D panel setup (see screenshots above) I never have to move the "viewpoint" at all during takeoff/flight/landing. I have access to everything I need without having to switch views. With the VC can you operate the MCP/EFIS whilst still seeing the outer/inner MDU? Unless you zoom out a lot I think you would have to move the VC viewpoint to operate the MCP. Additionally with a 2D cockpit I never miss a knob/switch with the mouse because the 2D view doesn't move like the VC does with its simulated head movement. Even if you turn off VC head movement your seat position still moves in large banks and you have to reset.
Sorry to say that, but your view as far from realistic and nice. It's maybe practical, but that's it. I can set up the view so that I can operate MCP and see displays, yes. And outside. Not even such zoom-out needed. I have it big so it's faster and easier, but I can put it away also. The big + for VC is I can set it up the way >I< like it.In real A/C, pilot also has one set of eyes, and has to move them around. But he has hands, not a mouse. Turn this around, with one mouse in the VC setup with shortcuts for panels, you are way faster. Now, if you tell me you have at least 10 touchpanels around yourself, or complete hardware, I would see a need for complete 2D, or even any 2D. And even then, how many people would have that!?I never had the problem you are mentioning... the seat doesn't move and my position is always the same. I turn off head movement for critical "panels"...

i have 4 touch panels, having 2d panels makes it so much more economical to set them up for all type of aircraft, and makes it more realistic. but as i just said , i'd be happy with just being able to bind the cut offs to a joystick command.

Bring back the 2D throttle panel !!!! im Not Worthy.gifim Not Worthy.gif

Me too! I have engine start and shutdown mapped to the yoke, but on the NGX, and ONLY the NGX, it wont work because the cutoffs wont move. The engines spool down but then come right back to idle.

I know you guys want a 2d throttle quadrant, and that is perfectly fine. But my question still remains. Why can't you do as pic007 suggested and open a new window with the vc in it and press shift+a once? If you guys are in need for the fuel cutoffs and the trim indicator, this will work just like a 2d quadrant, the only difference being that it is 3d.

I updated that, it doesnt work because as soon as you open a second view, the MCP locks up and you can move or change anything, and you have to refresh the plane to get it working again.
