Out of the 3372 pages.......

Featured Replies

Whats a guy to do..... I don't have a printer, so all of my printing I have to do my local library-(1 [email protected] at 3372 sheets - you do the math) I can't go to Staples-([email protected]) because they will not copy it because of "Do Not Duplicate" printed all over the manuals. (Thanks PMDG) So I can ether read all 3372 pages at my monitor.....yea right who am I kidding....or I can print some parts of the 3372 pages (6 PDFs) So out of the 3372 pages of stuff that I need to read - Which ONE manual would you print out to help you learn to fly the Boeing 737? 1) Intro2)Tutorial3)FCTM4)Manual #15)Manual #26)Ref. I want to learn how to fly it. But i feel like I'm taking a College course whose text book has 3372 pages with 6 chapters Rolling%20Eyes.gif Please Help !

Well, the thing is that every part of the manuals is an intrical part of learnng how to fly this plane using all the tools it carries. My best bet is that if you were planning to print all pages at staples for 10 cents each one go to Angle of Attack instead. They are about to release their training for the NGX and trust me, they do a hell of a job in teaching how to use all the tools the plane has and it will cost you less than printing the manual.

yes, welcome to your basic airline indoc course. Just print the checklist, and possibly the QRH. Remember, airlines are moving towards ipads these days.

Just give the guy a tip and tell him to print it, it's not as if you're going to sell it anyways.

the tuto is a "must read" for sure !! Below, my way (not too bad) to navigate through the .pdf docs : example: my cursor is located page 1 of FCOMv2.pdf (1240 pages in total) and I want to go directly to Chapter 10 "Flight Instrument Display" beginning on page ??? (you would not know until you are !) I open the search field (CTRL + F) and I hit "chapter 10" : in 2 clicks I find my cursor located page 443 at the beginning of chapter 10 From here I want to go in Section 10 page 18 : just hit 10.10.18 and, in 2 clicks .... etc ... A dynamic table of contents would have been better, but that is a good compromise, in any case much better than scrolling through numerous pages Hope this help. Keep going !!

Why don't YOU do the math and compare it to what you were apparently going to spend at Staples!

Agree. Although I've never done any of their trainings, the way they work and previews placed on their website, made me order the Captains Package on the day you could order (eventhough it's not yet released!). Check it out here: http://www.flyaoamedia.com

Every chapter has a table of contents (TOC)... So: - read the introduction and tutorial- then decide on how you are gonna proceed with your learning curve. Reading everything top to bottom isnot possible from day one. Prepare to read the manuals many times during next months. What i personally do: I am reading in parallel the FCTM and reading Fcom1/2 based on what i want at the time. For example yesterday i wanted to take a depp look in the HUD so i start reading the MULTIPLE parts in fcom manuals that refer to HUD. In parallel i am reading the FCTM about crew operations.... I believe as time passes by the bits will come together... my 2c though...:) Hint1: When you want to go to a chapter its better to target in the toc...So you can search 1.TOC.1 or NP.TOC.1 e.t.c Hint2: Use Foxit reader instead of acrobat..You can have many pdfs open in tabs.
