Anchorage X (Alaska) (FSX) Released!

Featured Replies

Anchorage is great for cargo, but commercial flights do fly in and out of PANC. Try flying your Alaska 737 or MD80 from PANC to PAJN. It's not that long of a flight, but the approach into PAJN will take some skills. There's Fairbanks and a nice scenic flt from either KSEA or CYVR. Give it a try.

Thank's guys it seems the frame rates depends on what other add-ons you are running on that area, I believe aes lite with all the cars and stuff can slow it down even more depending on what system you have, I have to admit I wasn't interested in panc to much myself but It seems like some very interesting and fun flights. and I know some simmers were waiting for panc a long time so its good too see its finally out.

I'm wondering how this works with UTX Alaska? I would like to get it but I'm wonding if I would have to disable all of UTX AK. Does it cover all of Anchorage?

After looking at the screenshots, I see that Aerosoft added night textures that they didn't have for Cleveland X. Considering how much time spends in the dark during the winter, it's a good idea. Are there seasonal textures as well?I was also glad to finally see a good rendition of Lake Hood. This makes Anchorage X not only for big iron fliers but also for GA pilots who like float planes. I have been to Lake Hood and it was one amazing airport. The Aerosoft rendition looks very nice.

Why not use time compression then? Works pretty good with the MD-11, up to 8x. So you can do much longer flights, especially when they only show hours of blue water in between the nice destinations. PANC seems to eat a lot of memory here. At least with the C377 HD I get some 2.6gb RAM usage (fsx.exe only).
Meh, I dislike time compression. I'm one of those people that does flights in real time. I'll only use time compression when I'm truly bored or if I'm in a hurry. I don't like to use time compression because it takes out the relaxing part from the flight for me. Makes me feel like I'm in a hurry and have to constantly watch for a turn in the route or ATC talking to me. I really don't like that. Also, time compression and MD-11 really do not work well together for me. They say it works well, but time compression + turn still ends up in the plane flying completely off course. For straight bits it's okay, but it seems to be okay for all other aircraft that I have too. Bill: If I do get PANC, I want to fly across all of the USA from there. PANC is too far for a quick hop, though, which means I'll end up flying to KSEA most of the time I guess, or Fairbanks, if Thorsten will do that airport next. See, in a sim where I have so many other airports that I can fly to and from in often less than an hour, having PANC just doesn't quite... cut it. For me, that is. Don't worry, I'll probably acquire this airport in some way in the end (either by purchasing it or by doing a review for one of the websites I write reviews for), knowing me. Just not right now. Heck, saturday I'm going to do the first flight I ever did into LOWI, and that's an import that's close to at least two airports I already have, and I have LOWI for over a year now. There are so many routes I still have to try, so many add-on sceneries I still have to make good use of, that PANC is not quite necessary right now. And with KLAX coming out, my flights along the US west coast are going to climb in numbers, too.

I have to admit, same problem here, but I'm still in the denial phase, which should make the devs happy since I therefore buy more stuff. wub.png Before I forget it. Very nice and informative reviews on the MD-80 and mega Singapore, Benjamin. Keep them coming.

Anyone found the train so far? Wow, that's well done. It seems to follow a schedule and also has some (loud) sounds attached to it. Nice detail. You can catch it when using the GA medium parking, E22 and go to the spot view for example. You WILL hear it, that's for sure.

Bill: yeah I have, one of the perks about being a reviewer wink.png It feels stupid, but after that long post about why I'm not going to buy/review PANC just now, I sent an email to Robert Whitwell if I can review it. So, I have just ordered a review copy for an Avsim review. I simply am way to curious... CoolP: they have these trains at more locations. At leipzig and Innsbruck for example. I LOVE it, seriously. I was taxiing my DHL 767 at leipzig to the DHL terminal, and went one done of the taxiway bridges right when a train passed underneath me. I kept smiling for quite some time afterwards... For me 50% of the enjoyment I get from FS and flying is the quality of the scenery at the departure and arrival locations. Aerosoft always hits the nail on the head in that department. Especially Leipzig has conquered my heart now. That's one hell of an airport add-on!

You are right, and Innsbruck has some too. I think this is the AES lite thingy showing its nice detail. But the PANC train is LOUD, I just fell of my chair. ohmy.png Do you plan the review with or without UTX Alaska? I'd recommend both things.

Without, for I don't have UTX Alaska.

Then maybe on the next review since you are already in that area when reviewing PANC. It really adds something for the bush flying people in my eyes and is of great value since the area is huge. It later blends over into the Orbx PFJ scenery and the mighty Tongass Fjords, which is a nice trip too.If one doesn't like it, the refund policy once again shines.

Guys, it is a totally valid argument regarding the location of the airport, cargo routes etc etc. The debate on purchasing based on use is also valid. I think most of us though are more interested in how the addon performs on your system. For those that purchased the addon, what are your thoughts on performance in comparison to other airport addons?

CoolP: I don't think so, since Avsim already has a review on UTX Alaska: http://www.avsim.com/pages/0710/Flight1/Alaska.htm I might end up buying it, though, I've also wanted to get UTX Canada but never came around to do it. There always was something else I wanted to buy first...

As of 4 flights, 2 departures and 2 arrivals I have not experience any performance issues with Anchorage X and UTX alaska installed. They fit quite well together. I'm using my Flt1 mustang as a test plane, because it uses a lot of resourses.
