September 21, 201114 yr At times like this, when it all comes together and works, you forget all the hard work and time spent getting there...------- Starting out, an hour before sunset, at KIGM Kingman Airport, I contacted the Unicom operator to check the weather, entered my flightplan into the GNS530 and then taxied out to Runway 35, where a couple of Cessna's were practicing touch and go's. After taking off, I raised the gear and started a leisurely climb up to FL140 at 1500 fpm, no need for 4000fpm today. Thanks to the cross fill function of the GPS units, the flightplan was already synced to both GPS units, so I set up NAV2 on the GNS430, so that I could keep an eye on distance to destination, using the DME readout on the dash of the Duke.Shortly after reaching FL140, I was asked to contact Centre and I got my flight following on the TYSSN3 route, up to Las Vegas. As the sun set on the horizon, the Cerbat mountains cast long shadows across the valley below me.Ten minutes later, sparkles of light up ahead caught my attention. The last sunbeams of the day reflected on the surface of Lake Mead, letting me know that it was nearly time to turn left and head into McCarran airspace. After checking ATIS information at KLAS and contacting Approach, I was cleared to land ILS on Runway 01L.I loaded the vectors for the approach into the GNS530 and checked that the correct frequency was showing. Approach started to vector me in, doing a sterling job and not steering me into the various mountain tops surrounding Las Vegas.Shortly before turning onto the final approach, the TCAS alert sounded to warn me of nearby traffic.A quick check on the GNS530, everything ok, near miss avoided... Turning onto my final heading at waypoint NODIY, I intercepted the ILS beam and was cleared to land.Switching the GNS530 to Approach mode activated the automatic descent and I watched in amazement as the plane flew itself down the glideslope towards the runway. On finals, I heard the aircraft waiting to take-off being asked to hold, as I was landing, and then the moment came, flaps full, power idle, check wheels down, props max, flare gently, don't wobble, my god, so much to do all at once... It was a slightly bumpy landing, if I'm honest, but we were down and in one piece and the lights and sights of Vegas were beckoning.I was advised to vacate the runway to the left and contact Ground and after switching frequencies, I was given a parking spot and directions to get there. With the roar of jets taking off and landing around me, I headed to the parking area and shut down the aircraft for the night...Thanks for joining me and thanks to all the developers who help make the FSX world a better place Toby Flight - KIGM IGM ZATES KADDY TYSSN SUZSI PRINO KLAS -------- The following add-ons were used...ASE, UTX, GEX, FEX, REX, FSWC, Shade, FSGenesis Mesh, VoxATC, WOAI, FSDT KLAS, Real Air Turbine Duke, RXP Unlimited, Flight1 Audio Environment. September 21, 201114 yr I had an equally satisfying experience yesterday with the new Baytower.ca Vans RV7a, I fly an RV-9a in real life and the two were so similar I thought I was in my own cockpit.

September 21, 201114 yr No ENB, only Shade Apologies if this is an obvious question, but as a new convert to FSX from FS9, could someone please provide some information on this "ENB" mod that I seem to see anecdotally mentioned in numerous forum posts ? I'm just getting up to speed on things like "BP=0", "Shade" etc, but ENB... this FSX has a whole new language of its own Regards Gary
September 21, 201114 yr Author ENB can cause crashes and instability.Try Shade first and see how that works for you. Ryzen 5800X3D, 64GB RAM, RTX 4090, Windows 11Link to my: Dynamic Flight Dispatch Tool
September 21, 201114 yr Wait...is this permitted? You made an entire post that was positive, without complaining about how things didn't work the way you wanted or anything. Sometimes it seem as though that's the only reason people come to forums like this :)Oh, and I think you mean 14000, not FL140 (which would be 140,000 feet)
September 21, 201114 yr Author Definition Flight levels are described by a number, which is this nominal altitude ("pressure altitude") in feet, divided by 100. Therefore an apparent altitude of, for example, 32,000 feet is referred to as "flight level 320". Ryzen 5800X3D, 64GB RAM, RTX 4090, Windows 11Link to my: Dynamic Flight Dispatch Tool
September 21, 201114 yr Yes, but if I'm not mistaken, that doesn't begin until 18000 (FL180). Anything below that you give the full length.Anyhow, not trying to cause trouble. Thanks for the great run-down!

September 21, 201114 yr Nice flight report! My "nice sundown flight" is from Kern Valley Airport (L05) to Avalon (KAVX) in the MAAM-SIM DC-3 or Real Air Beech Duke (either Piston or Turbo). Using MergaSceneryX California State (Complete), FS Dreamscapes California 5 meter Pro-Mesh, etc. Cheers, - jahman.

September 21, 201114 yr Author Custom FEX sky colours with Mark's Final Settings in Shade. It would look nicer if the forum software wouldn't resize and compress every image... Nice work with Shade Gizmo, it's a really nice add-on for FSX.Looking forward to custom horizon haze colours. If you could figure out how to add a slight blue haze over everything, as seen in Europe in real life over 5000ft, that would be perfect...
