September 24, 201114 yr Ive been migrating some of my addons from FSX to Prepar3d. I havent tried them all yet, but most seem to work just fine. The only one Ive had a problem with so far is the ENB mod, which causes a CTD at launch. Other than that, Prepar3d seems fast than FSX. A little boost in FPS, but seems a lot smoother. loads faster and seems very stable. This was done on 1.2, just released yesterday. (Im doing the $9.95 a month thing) Rob
September 24, 201114 yr This program is very intriguing to me. I just don't know if I want to spend that much a month. I would have to be sure that all of my addons would work. Mike Keigley
September 24, 201114 yr so... how does it really work.. you download the prepar3d addon and install it over your existing FSX or into FSX or what? or is it a separate exe that installs as a separate program all together? Have you tried FSPassengers with it? or does it have failures built in, what about EZDok camera system, etc. Ciao!
September 24, 201114 yr Author I dont own FSpassenger, so I can't comment on that. I do have EZdoc and its next on my list to try tomorrow. Rob
September 24, 201114 yr Fantastic shots Rob,I'm looking into this aswell since Orbx announced it will be working with Prepar3d. 100%75%50%d8a34be0e82d98b5a45ff4336cd0dddc Patrick
September 24, 201114 yr Very nice indeed im thinking of going this way myself also, and yes Orbx is going this way so its a double whammy for me.cheersIain
September 25, 201114 yr Moderator Thanks for posting those shots Rob.I'm interested in P3D as well, most likely after I get around to doing my next hardware upgrade. I was more or less waiting until Flight came out, but it seems like P3D might end up being a more viable product for serious simmers than Flight will be, as well as the fact that LM is always working on the product to make it better. Plus it looks like a lot of FSX addons will work in P3D, where as using FSX addons in Flight was still in question.By any chance have you tried dumping your GEX or REX textures into P3D yet? How about Ultimate Terrain products or Active Sky Eveloution? If it end ups that the majority of FSX addons will work either by just installing them directly into P3D or by means of the 3PD's making optional P3D installers, I might end up skipping FSX all together and just going with P3D on my next rig. September 25, 201114 yr Nice shots. I am beginning to think very seriously about making the move myself. Good to see the NGX running well. David Webster AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D | G.Skill 32GB DDR4 3600Mhz | EVGA RTX 3080 Ti @ 3440X1440 | Crucial 2TB M.2 | Win11
September 25, 201114 yr Very nice pics! I've also considered getting P3D after I do a major hardware upgrade in the next few months. I'm just sitting on the side lines waiting to see how Flight turns out to be and X Plane 10 is almost here as well. Interesting times for us simmers. Do you have any of the FS Dreamteam airports to see if they will work in P3D?
September 25, 201114 yr Author I havent tried porting FSDT stuff to Prepar3d yet, but my guess is it wont work because of the way the scenery activates within FSX. Ill try it later this week. I think everything works except Orbx FSX scenery, enb mod and shade. Those are the only things that keep me using FSX right now.I still want to try Active sky with it, since prepar3d does not have a real weather function, so thats something I want to try with it as well. Rob
