  1. I think it makes sense that most HARDCORE simmers would be over the age of 40. After all, the older simmers are the ones that could afford all of the add ons and hardware. ( think home cockpits. ) most teens or early 20 somethings don't have that kind of cash. In any case, MS missed the mark BIG time with their marketing . I hope Flight crashes and burns ( no pun intended ). Then maybe MS will swallow some of their greed and make a real FS 11.
  2. I can say that as a 3rd party developer, I feel a great sense of loss at the news. However, FSX is still running strong and I believe X-plane will start capturing more users as time goes on. I think these two platforms will provide a nice market for developers for years to come.
  3. I'm mainly disappointed with the marketing tactics used. All of the previews have been of only Hawaii leading to massive speculation. I have been asking myself why this is the case. It wouldn't make any sense for Flight to be Hawaii only since they are clearly building on the FSX platform and all of the data is there for the entire world. There is also enough evidence from this thread and others that Flight will include the whole world and with various aircraft. Maybe MS is using Hawaii as a platform to develop their new features for FS. Afterwards, they'll apply those new techniques to the world wide scenery. Either way, I'm disappointed that MS hasn't been more clear with what their intentions are and keeps releasing previews of only Hawaii. Of course I'm very patient and time will eventually answer everyone's questions.
  4. Looking forward to it Tom. I hope it's all good news. I don't like to speculate, but I must say that from what has been released so far, I'm very disappointed.
  5. #3 blew me away! Is that unedited? Just wow!
  6. Very nice pics! I've also considered getting P3D after I do a major hardware upgrade in the next few months. I'm just sitting on the side lines waiting to see how Flight turns out to be and X Plane 10 is almost here as well. Interesting times for us simmers. Do you have any of the FS Dreamteam airports to see if they will work in P3D?
  7. I've been a long time MSFS user going back to FS4. However, I'm finally going to give X-Plane 10 a shot when it gets released and at some point I believe I'll start modeling aircraft for it. Looking forward to more details!
  8. I hope I'm DEAD WRONG and this is purely speculation, but as some people mentioned before, they may just release a base pack that includes Hawaii. Then they may release " expansion packs " as time goes on. I mean after all of these months of development, they haven't shown us any other areas of the world for us to drool over. MS may be getting this idea looking at what 3PD are charging for their products and adjusting accordingly. All we can do is wait until next month for updates that may give additional clues.
  9. As some people mentioned in other posts, it would make sense for MS to hype up Flight before release ( my guess about 1 or 2 months before release ). They haven't done that yet as we don't have much information other than some screen shots and news. I predict it'll be early next year ( just a guess ) but if I wouldn't be surprised if they are pushing to release it for the holiday season. Either way, I just want it to be released and not have any more rumors pop up in a few weeks that it's been put on hold haha.
  10. After a long stressful day at work ( I work for a company who announced massive layoffs recently ) , this made my day!!!
  11. I like that idea A LOT! I'm in :)
  12. All I can say is that competition is GOOD! I have never purchased an X plane series but will seriously consider buying X plane 10 and developing aircraft for it. I applaud the X plane team and hope they continue to develop new versions for years to come along side Microsoft. And of course once Flight comes out, I'll order it asap. Sherv
  13. The first two shots looked like photos when I first looked at them! Really amazing shots.
  14. Having just lost my full-time job last week, my heart goes out the Aces team. This is a shock and I'm still soaking it in. I've been a flight simmer since 1993 and have owned every version since then. This hobby has been a huge part of my life and I'm sure it's the same way for many on these forums. Despite all of this bad news, I remain optimistic in the long run. As a community we will stay strong and support this hobby for decades to come. I doubt MS will release the source code but they will keep it safe somewhere for future use. Like some others mentioned, the bright side is that we will have time to soak in FSX for now.... and I'm hoping we reach the point of developing planes and scenery for just one version of FS instead of two as is the case right now.For the MSFS team, I wish you guys the best of luck in finding a new job. Your years of hard work are greatly appreciated and will NEVER be forgotten. Sherv Commercial Level Simulations Model Designer
  15. I can't comment about your post not being accepted, but the problem you mentioned has been fixed. ( The overhead gauges becoming reflective at daytime in FSX with SP2 and acceleration ). I can not give a time table on when SP3 will be released but it should be soon. SP3 also has some other minor bug fixes for FSX. Sorry if you were disappointed with our customer service but we take notice of every complaint or comment and address the problems as quickly as possible. Sometimes we may miss a post but rest assured we are continually making our products as bug free as possible. Thanks!
  16. Hi there! Of course I am biased because I'm the model designer for the CLS A330/340 but here's my opinion on this. For $43 USD it is a very good value. You are getting the A330-300 and A330-200 with all 3 engine versions and the A340-300/200. Also like someone mentioned, you get 150 liveries. That is unheard of. That's basically less than 11 dollars per plane. Also yes this is a Lite product so it is not a complex airplane to fly. In essense, Justflight already has an A330/340 professional series made by PSS. We could not make a product to compete directly with them because Justflight will be our publisher for the DVD series. I will say this though, after 6 years of evolution, I have created an A330/ 340 exterior visual model that is unmatched by anything on the market today. Good luck with whichever product you choose!Sherv
