IFLY 737 - Anybody have it

Featured Replies

Hi All I am thinking of buying the Ifly 737 for FSX as well whilst I wait for SDK etc, would be nice to have both, has anybody brought it and if so what is the performance like IE is it hard on the system, please no ###### responses or slanging just after neutral feedback as I know this post has the potential to turn into a riot.I am sure both products are excellent but my main concern is how it would run performance wise , thanks
Yeah, I have the iFly 737 for FSX and, I've had no performance problems: I also have ALL of PMDG's FSX "suff".

I have both and am very pleased (with both offerings). Support both developers. Regards,
Ditto here too. I get equal pleasure from flying both. The iFly has it for me with its range of models, i.e.600-900+BBJs,and a heap of repaints available too.FPS-wise I have had no issues but then I only fly 2D.And it has both a Voice and Button FS2Crew to make the flying even much more a joy.

I have both, they are different products, with different merits. The iFly is an all in one solution, with almost every NG and BBJ for one price, it enjoys a lower performance overhead than the PMDG, owing chiefly to it having less fidelity to the real thing in comparison to the PMDG NG, which is a consideration worth bearing in mind if you struggle to run the PMDG NG. Not everyone has an i7 with 50 Gigs of RAM, don't forget, and even if they do, hardcore simmers rarely run FSX alone without some other stuff going as well, such as add-on weather, ATC, multiple monitors etc, etc. The merit of the PMDG NG is that it is for the most part a no compromise depiction of the real thing (radar notwithstanding), and is more of a detailed study sim as opposed to the survey approach of the iFly package, although it does have some study elements. The PMDG is the better choice for a full on realism nut who has the rig to run it, although that is not to say that the iFly is what I would call 'lite', in fact it puts many hard core simulations to shame, but it doesn't approach the fidelity of the PMDG, and I don't think anyone, even the developers, would claim it does either. I'm happy that I have both as I am glad to support iFly, just as I am glad to support PMDG. The more developers the merrier as far as I'm concerned, and the day I complain about an FS developer having a crack at a 737, will be a rare day indeed, especially since there are now seven different developers making FS 737s. HelloOn my machine they are running around the same fps, performance for me is very smooth for both.Once I have drivers for the NGX then I will probably be flying it more, to sum up the NGX in one word I would say Precise fits quite well in how well the avionics function. The VC, and I am going to be shot down here, but textures aside I find the scale of the i-Fly more pleasing. What do you mean by "the scale"? Bert Van Bulck

I own both (also Ifly for fs9). Every thought I had conserning your request was made in the above, so thank you Al for that answer... On my rig (Stock i7 @ 2,6Ghz 8 GB ram, GTS 250 Win7 x64) I have better performance with the PMDG, but from what I can gather from the Ifly forum, the performance is subject to huge differences, even when messured on what seems to be identical specs - so your milage may vary here! I think what strikes me as the major diffenrence (apart from the visuals and sounds, which I honestly think is in the favour of PMDG), is indeed the fidelity of the systems, as Al mentioned. Not that Iflys systems are not deep (very deep compared to lets say Wilco 737 classic), but the PMDGs way of simulationg this is just another ball park... As I too almost can't fly without Fs2Crew, I tend to spin my Leo MD80 more than the PMDG nowadays, but bying Fs2Crew for the Ifly, would in my world be loss of money, because when that SDK for the PMDG is out for Fs2Crew, I know it'll be PMDG all the way ;) Mas

I also own and like both products but I am forced to fly only the Ifly for the moment due to the instability of the NGX. I am not knocking the NGX as I run FSX on a toshiba laptop and the NGX pushes it a bit past its limits while the Ifly performs just fine.I do realise however that the PMDG NGX is a far superior product and I am eagerly awaiting the SP in the hopes that I will be able to complete a flight without problems, if that does come to pass I think the Ifly will probably start to gather (virtual) dust.Darryl Critchley.

This is PMDG support forum for the NGX.Posting this kind of question here is nothing but inappropriate. There is already a bunch of threads on this item in the FSX forum.Thanks.
