Hi all,Can anyone tell me if the fog blending into mountains has been improved to eliminate the really sharp looking fog edges on the tips of mountains? Has the fog layer transition improved?ThanksKelvin

Hi all,

just did the migration from FSX to P3D within 2 days. I was surprised that it was relatively easy to handle. Ok, I also had some Appcrashes at the beginning

I got the following things running perfectly:

  • FSUIPC (this will create a dll.xml into P3D folder, which the LVLD will need afterwards)
  • Level-D 767 (sometimes have crashes when loading with the VC...strange behaviour)
  • PMDG 747X (needs the original FSX.EXE in the P3D-folder for version check)
  • some original FSX aircraft (just copy the subfolder from the SimObject (worked for the 738/744)
  • Radar Contact 4
  • EFB from Aivlasoft local via network (needs a fsx.exe running which could be any program, e.g. frame limiter)
  • FS-Commander local and via network
  • REX Essential
  • World of AI
  • FS Global 2008 (just added the paths manually to the scenery.cfg - not sure if the P3D mesh is better than FSX, should load the best detailed mesh automatically I hope)
  • Plan-G local an via network (needs a fsx.exe in the P3D folder)

I used this freeware tool which was a great help:

http://www.sahince.c...5-fsxtop3d.html

==> !!! Please take care, that you have no network share active for any FSX-folder, that was a problem I had !!!

The tool will rename the original FSX folders so there is no chance you loose data (can be undone even manually).

I had a network share active, so the tool failed till I figured that out. If working, it's very easy to switch between FSX/P3D.

Besides the renaming it will direct all Installers to the P3D paths and files with created links.

I think I can leave FSX behind now. Just doing a short test flight and also performance seems to be fine. Glad that this program will be supported in the future. Looking forward to V2.0...

Hi,Well, I now have Radar Contact 4 and FS Commander (via network) working with Prepar3D.

Hi

I've installed the latest version of FSCUIP into P3D and have ran the rebuild scenery function. However, RC4 does not appear in P3D.

Is this to do with the settings on FSCUIP. If so, how do I do I configure it (this is a fresh install, not the version that comes with RC4)

Thanks,

Paul

Hello P3D fellows ! Active Sky Evolution (build 647) is compatible with P3D in network environment.Simconnect Client 61259 (SP2/Acceleration) works with Simconnect Server ESP 1.0.20.0 installed by P3D. As with FSX, you need only to configure a simconnect.xml in C:\Users\<yourname>\appdatas\roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D\ folder on your server machine and a simconnect.cfg in documents folder on client machine. As with FSX, it's useful to modify ASE registry keys to point to shared P3D folders (ASE doesn't recognize P3D so you have to cheat and point P3D folders as FSX folders) Depiction and rendering are as usual with just one remark :"disable haze filter" doesn't work like in FSX and give a negative-like aspect for horizon scenery. Hi, can you be more precise out the registry changes please? I'd love to get ASE controlling the REXE clouds I've installed in P3D!

Cheers

It's a very old thread. I'm using now AS2012, but I suppose that ASE is still working with P3D 1.4.

For your question, ASE is not controlling REX clouds, it is just using the textures installed by REX with the possibility (for FSX, I don't know if it works with P3D) to keep "snapshots" of your choices of textures.

Anyway, as described in ASE documentation, you have to specify in ASE-machine registry (regedit , don't forget to keep and save a registry backup)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HiFi\ASE\FSXMyDocsPath: Set this to your desired

flight plan folder, which should be shared on the P3D computer as \\p3dcomputername\Flight Simulator X Files

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HiFi\ASE\FSXPath: Set this to your desired P3D installation path, which should be shared on the P3D computer as \\p3dcomputername\Flight Simulator X

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HiFi\ASE\FSXAppDataPath: Set this to your desired

P3D AppData Path, which should be shared on the P3D computer as \\p3dcomputername\FSX-Appdata

This way, ASE is seeing P3D as a FSX installation.

As usual, you can also choose to map network drives for these folders :

IE , Z:\ as P3D folder (\\p3dcomputername\P3D folder)

Y:\ as P3D appdata folder (\\p3dcomputername\P3D appdata folder)

and X:\ as P3D files folder (\\p3dcomputername\P3D files folder)

so, your registry would be :

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HiFi\ASE\FSXMyDocsPath set to X:\

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HiFi\ASE\FSXPath set to Z:\

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HiFi\ASE\FSXAppDataPath set to Y:\

Hope this helps

Well this is odd. I uninstalled ASE from the client and re-installed it. It worked straight away across to p3d with no adjustments!

Cheers
