HiLo Chime Sound?

Recommended Posts

Hi I've wondering inside the Sound/PMDG folder and I see that the HiLo Chime (Ding Dong) sound exists inside that folder. My question is how is this activated inside the cockpit ? Thanks, ******* Hernandez

I don't know which sound you exactly mean because I don't have the 737 on my tablet but maybe one of these three switches will play your sound:-Seatbelts (switch)-Chime (switch)-Attend Call (button)You can spot them in the middle of the overhead pannel. Hope that helps. John

The sound for Attend Call used to be Ding-Dong in the FS9 version like he mentions, but on NGX is only Ding, I have also wondered about this as I like Ding-Dong better...

disregard I was writing junk at first, but obviously, you can always replace one of the dings with the ding-dong by appropriate renaming. In fact I'm gonna do this right now, thanks for the reminder. sig.gif

This is what I did to make it work: I went to my FSX Root Folder then --> SOUND --> PMDG --> NGX -->VARIOUS I renamed the PMDG_737_LoChime to PMDG_737_LoChime.bak I created a duplicate of the PMDG_737_HiLoChime and renamed it to PMDG_737_LoChime.bak Voila !!! Now when you move the seatbealt sign or chime switch you get the "Ding Dong" sound. "The attendant and ground button sounds remain unchanged" RegardsJesus Hernandez

Maybe PMDG can add this as an equipment option in the FMS for those who would like to have the hi-lo (Ding Dong) chime instead of just the single chime in SP1. Some airlines do have this option instead of the single chime. Any thoughts?? Chris Jackson

Sure. That'd be great. The 737s I fly with GOL have the DingDong sound, and I actually like that one better than the just Ding sound.

The Attendant sound should probably be the PMDG_737_HiChime file. I'll make two copies of the PMDG_737_HiLoChime and rename one to PMDG_737_HiChime and the other to PMDG_737_LoChime. I'll report the results.

The PMDG_737_HiChime is indeed the one used by the Attend Call button, while the PMDG_737_LoChime is used by the passenger signs. I renamed PMDG_737_HiChime.wav to PMDG_737_HiChime.bak and PMDG_737_LoChime.wav to PMDG_737_LoChime.bak. Then I made two copies of PMDG_737_HiLoChime.wav and renamed the first to PMDG_737_HiChime.wav and the second to PMDG_737_LoChime.wav and presto! Open the sim and the passenger signs and Attend Call will now be doing the DingDong sound.

I wonder if they've noticed that people are reporting this, since none of the devs has commented on this. (if I've missed something, correct me!) I do realise that this bug is very close to insignificant, but it is a bit disappointing when something that is supposed to happen according to the manual, doesn't happen.

They indeed did not comment on this, but the Ding sound is not a bug, I've heard. It should be an option that airlines can choose for their aircraft, which one of those happened to be chosen or offered to PMDG to be used as the survey plane, which they based the features of the NGX on. BTW, is there a page somewhere in the manual talking about the DingDong sound??? EDIT: It's true. The manual does say you should hear a DingDong sound when pressing the Attendant Call button. FCOM v2, page 5.10.13.

I remember Jack C saying this was an option on the real ng. What seems strange is they included the double ding without an option to select it in the cdu.
