Nice visual there fella. Maybe alittle fast but still good, not an easy airport to approach. I have that scenery aswell.. regards Stevie
Stevie, I see you have the same ATI 5850 and I've been thinking about replacing mine with NVIDIA. I've always gone for NVIDIA in the past but for some strange reason I felt like a change, before doing my research on this forum. Could you give me your thoughts on this? Great clip!

Anyone been able to find a r/w video of the rwy08 circle to land visual approach? I had no idea this was such a demanding approach. Mastered Kai Tal and even Toncontin without too much trouble, but this baby is SCARYPraying.gif Also, if anyone can supply ANY additional detail & tips etc for this I'd be grateful. For those who've done it, what's your rate of desent during the final turn? I'm really struggling to get this one right. Maybe some kind soul would create a video tutorial for this approachim%20Not%20Worthy.gif

learned this quite a while ago,(I know the layout now Angel.gif, and have a brief on my harddrive) actually Jeppesen charts concerning LOWI are now a bit more obscure than when I learned it(to scare off adventurous noobs I bet, pilots need certification for LOWI, while ago)trick is, to use INN INN 420 south of the 26 threshold & to haveAB 313 and INN 420showing somewhere on a DU or GPS you'll be doing a right hand circuit over the meadow-plateau left of airport flying @3700ftright turn into baseleg over the meadow into 08 starts at D3.5 (nm from) OEV 111.1or D14.1 (nm from) OEJ 109.7LOWI is at 1900ft so have 2xDME's and a VOR ready showing distance and direction, and off you gofrom RTT you'll be heading AB,flyover AB turn left to INN @ 230dgs, be at and keep 3700ftshort of INN make right @ 265 dgs over the 'meadow' that's up there against the left mountain(you'll be lying pretty low over the houses there)keep 3700ftyour on the righthand-circuit now, up over a meadow (that's at ~2900ft)left of LOWI on your right, that's down a couple of hundred feetkeep an eye on your DMEat D3.5 OEV you turn into baseleg, stay horizontal for a short whileready to go down as soon as your'e safe of the ridge of the meadowhave a visual on 08turn final 08 whilst descending to proper approach alt et voila

World Air Routes Series, Transavia 737 have a Real World chapter of the Eastern Approach RW08 Circle to land but you can also view my Complete A to Z film on Youtube. Part 3 and 4 is the complete procedure with ATC and Terminal procedures. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_type=search_playlists&search_query=klm763&uni=1 This weekend I will post the Western Approach over Kuhtal to AB and a right turn to join downwind RW08 and is a very special procedure and made it with the 737-800 so stay tuned...

a RL youtube video from the cockpit window, circling 08, Boeing 767-300ERshame he edited some parts out (like the last seconds of the turn to final)actually in RL the turn to baseleg isnt as scary looking as in FSX!

Maybe a dumb question but i read on the charts min. visibility for visual appr. is 5 km at LOWI for jets. Does this mean that the airport is closed when the visibility gets lower? Or RNAV still allowed?

Heres a short vid of a TUIfly flight taken from a passenger just rear of the wing on the right hand side. Their flight had to abort the rwy 26 landing and circle a few times before finally completing the rwy 08 approach. The vid starts on the downwind leg and continues until just after the turn from base to final. It shows precisely how tight the actual turn is, and how low the aircraft is from the terrain before descending down into the valley for final.

Damn spectacular. I am off to fly Innsbruck 08 Hypnotized.gif The "effect" of shaking is mega-spectacular - nothing that's possible on the computer!

Damn, one hard approach...

Yeh, but what a hoot eh?

Tooootally, dude Shocked.gif

I did this same approach yesterday and today successfully (after a few triesHypnotized.gif ). After reviewing the replays in FSrecorder, my right wing window view is almost identical to the one in the video. Ive done it twice now. I approach from RTT heading towards AB. At AB (@3700ft) I turn to a heading of 230 towards INN, about a mile or so short of INN I turn to heading 265. This puts me on that plateau above and left of LOWI, about 1000 ft agl. I continue on that heading until 3.5 nm from OEV 111.10. At this point I begin my 30 dg turn to the right, I try to maintain 30 throughout the turn while descending over the ridge. This puts my right wing roughly over the gulley that leads down into the valley. Once down in the valley I continue my appr to rwy 08.Whew.gifCant remember who it was, but someone posted how this is done and I followed those procedures and it works out perfect ( if you dont botch it ). I like watching the real vid and my replay side by side, makes me proud.LOL.gif Also, I get a kick out of the AI calling missed approaches, rotfl.

I must say, I managed it the first time, but I admit I was little off to the left on final. Managed to correct it without trouble, but still not an easy approach.
