Hit speed intervention, the little button by the altitude knob. Control the speed yourself, while still remaining in VNAV. Lower spoilers to decelerate and then lower flaps and gear as required. This helped me to make a good landing. However the landing speed was 172 knots with flaps 30 and speed set to 152.Imho the idle thrust then approaching is too high. But when starting a flight N1 is just around 20.Is there any tweak that I can do so the idle thrust at descending/landing will be lower ?Or is this how it should be ?Perhaps a real pilot or someone from PMDG can shed some light on this.

I'm flying your route now Gerard. That is not the published procedure, generated by the FMC, I suspect you have modified it. Also, if I enter the route you suggest, that appears to be modifed by you, I get an FMC message warning me that speed is excessive at sugol. Not a surprise you are having an issue.Choose the appropriate star and transition next time perhaps.if you are going to make such changes [if you have] then you also need to enter proper speeds and altitudes for your modifications.

Flaps!By the way, maybe start flying more classic procedures instead of VNAV approaches, it will give you a better feel of what's going on. Try flying the ILS approach exactly following the ILS approach chart (which in fact you have to when no ATC is available). Every classic chart has a level part build in for slowing down (obligatory by ICAO)http://www.ais-netherlands.nl/aim/110908-111020/eAIP/html/eAIP/EH-AD-2.EHAM-en-GB.html#eham-ad-2.24Set a 10 nm circle around the aerodrome of destination. Before entering the circle, you should be at flaps 1. (told me by a real life Ryanair captain).Bert Van Bulck

The FMC also had me at 7000 at sugol, not your 11703 feet. Bascially what yiou have done is fubar. Big Grin.gif

SPD INTV has no part in this, as the legs page shows the VNAV wants to go slower. It can't command a speed slower than the current flap setting. Had you gone to F1, the speed bug would have followed.

Keep in mind inflight N1 idle will be in the low 30's unlike on the ground idle which is around 21% N1.

The flight was made in FSC 9 and then copied to the FMC form the 737NGX.After that I added the SID/STAR/Transition and had to delete some waypoints as they did not connect well. However, when flying the approach at 160 knots , as the aircraft follows the glidscope the speed goes up to 172 knots. That is with flaps 30 , gear out and airbrakes up.

Ill make a question off topic... on the pics, whats that radar showing on the lower DU? it looks like WXR but as far as i know the NGX doesnt have it

I used the Cs Weather Radar in place of the lower DU.The info missing on the lower DU is now shown on the upper DU by pressing the ENG button.
I may not know how to fix your problem, but your FSX is beautiful.
Thanks , it cost me years to find out how to make the best of it.

Gerard... Actually, having flown the route, I know what you are doing here. You are expecting the aircraft to decelerate itself, below the minimum clean speed.it won't, you have to lower flaps before the aircraft will do that.Doesn't apply at higher speeds of course. When you get to the minimum clean speed, you have to lower the flaps, the speed bug won't go any lower as stall protection.Matt and others above are absolutely correct.

I used the Cs Weather Radar in place of the lower DU.The info missing on the lower DU is now shown on the upper DU by pressing the ENG button.
Oh cool, is it possible to make the WXR radar appear on the lower DU by pressing the ENG button after secondary engine info? instead of it showing on the upper DUHope you understand my question :(
Ignore the troll, Gerard. In your penultimate pic, your speed tape is pointing to flaps "UP" - that is the sign to set flaps to 1, so maybe give that a go for starters. I've shared your confusion about the flap settings but it makes sense when you think about it - as you raise flaps, you will go to "UP" when you see the flap 1 marker on the speedtape, so that flaps are up as you hit UP. The reverse logic shows you extend your first notch of Flaps at UP.Hopefully others with more knowledge than I can shed more light on it, too.Paul Scholey
I am troll?) I told a person to learn how to fly aircraft properly. It's not SP1 issue. Are you going to explain everything in forum? How LNAV VNAV works?I didn't have any problems with first versions of NGX ( just freezing panels) and don't have any problems now.

Just programmed the flight again.This time I used transition SUG2A instead of SUGOL.Now it all looks way better :- REDFA...... .678 / FL250- SUGOL........250B / 10000- EH606..........240 / 6545- SOKSI..........220 / 4000A- EH613..........191 / 3390- EH614..........172 / 2900A- EH609..........160 / 2000- EH616..........160 / 1310- RW 06I will do the flight again thjis evening and will let you know.Up to know : thanks everybody for helping !
