Aircraft remaining at too high speed while flying STAR / Approach

Featured Replies

Remember to look at the legs page to see what speed the FMC wants at each point. Configure to make sure you get the speeds to match the fixes.

Just programmed the flight again.This time I used transition SUG2A instead of SUGOL.Now it all looks way better :- REDFA...... .678 / FL250- SUGOL........250B / 10000- EH606..........240 / 6545- SOKSI..........220 / 4000A- EH613..........191 / 3390- EH614..........172 / 2900A- EH609..........160 / 2000- EH616..........160 / 1310- RW 06I will do the flight again thjis evening and will let you know.Up to know : thanks everybody for helping !
Man, I real life, none does like you do. You always have traffic nearby, so in most of the cases you will use LVL CHG combined with VERT SPD pitch modes.I say again, read the FCTM and FCOM for better understanding stuff. You never going to get it right without learning. There are TOO many things to know, to get everything right. Otherwise you always will have hundreds of questions after each flight.

I just flew this exact route. I programmed in a significant tailwind. I had no issues. It is a fairly complicated transition and approach, but the airplane handled it beautifully. The deceleration points were spot on to make all the transition speeds and altitudes. Flaps began when I had white diamonds on the PFD. Make sure you don't arm the GS until you have circled back for final. Also, make sure you have reconciled all the discos in the flight plan before entering the STAR. Also, make sure the approach Vref is programmed in the CDU. This is a fun approach. It was a beautiful, hazy, sunset.SchipolFinal.jpgSchipolApproach.jpgSchipolTouchdown.jpg

Dennis,Love the screen shots! In honor of the 2012 end of all things (except PMDG, after the NGX, they'd never let a little thing like the end of the world bother them).Anyway... what's up with the red, and just curious, how did you do it?

System Specs:  I9-13900KF, NVIDIA 4070TI, Quest 3, Multiple Displays, Lots of TERRIFIC friends, 3 cats, and a wonderfully stubborn wife.

Although there are some issues with the ngx idle levels...most of the issues are with some of techniques, as others have mentioned regarding lying in vnav and speeds based on flap etc...That said another factor is your aircraft weight you appear to have an awful lot of fuel for landing...this would out up your approach speeds and ability to slow down effectively in descent. Some bugs with idle thrust are to check its commanding lowest idle thrust, occasionally the n1 figure will have reduced in the descent but the sim won't have reduced to this lower value, so try a quick f1 or pulling your throttles back again to see its doing that. Be aware that the actuall idle levels are too high sometimes so an earlier intervention of speed is needed especially if tail winds or heavier aircraft.

It's looking more like pilot technique and flight planning are the real issue here. Absolutely no offense intended, but it's interesting that I can allow the FMC to fly the -800/-900 almost all the way to the runway at Innsbruck with a tailwind, yet you're having issues with this relatively simple approach. Pilots say the entire 737 series are slick. Plan accordingly!Get the gear out earlier and follow proper flaps schedule.

I don't know, but it may be that we have the same or a similar problem:http://forum.avsim.net/topic/353554-is-there-after-sp1-an-idle-bug/page__fromsearch__1

Kind regards

I never have this problem, you know why?I never bother using the autopilot , I do the entire flight Manually (Takeoff-SID-Route-STAR-Landing) - (not even using Auto throttle) .so I never get screwed up by the Computer telling me what speed he thinks I should be at Idea.gifThere is a disadvantage however with this approach of mines, you can't fly longer then 1hr routes. But that's ok by me , I like short flights.

I real life it's impossible, because you have RNP, RNAV procedures, ATC conversations, procedures, announcements to passengers, in-flight briefings and so on.

Why the obsession with realism? If Joel prefers to do a flight manually, then let the guy do a flight manually...

Thank god we in a SIM and not in real life Aircraft, so I have no passengers to worry about with announcements :)

Dave,It's just a REX theme. "Just Right" and "Cumulus Set 4 HD". The timing is what gave the great reddish haze. Lot's of clouds on the sunset horizon giving off that glow. REX is new to me and it's a game changer for FSX enjoyment. I can't believe I waited so long to get it. Thanks for the compliment.Dennis

Gerard, I have the same problem after installing SP1 high speed while flying STAR/APPR EHAM.I have seen that the status "DES" on the upper CDU no show but stay on the status "CRZ" till the flaps going to "1 " then the status going to GA.TO D-TO CLN1 CLB CRZ GA status are working perfect on the upper CDU.I fly the tutorialflyght 737NGX EGKK-EHAMJoop Schmidt KLM194

That is correct !There is no "DES" annunciation on the Thrust Mode Display !!It will be CRZ for both Cruise and descent.Fred.
