November 17, 201114 yr Hello PMDG, any chance of getting some info if the NGX will be updated to use in microsoft flight, does anyone even know if the code will be similar to fsx to allow this, thanks Guys. Rich Sennett
November 17, 201114 yr PMDG have stated that they no nothing/very little about Flight and therefore are not commenting on any functionality until they know more of what it entails. Ken Connors
November 17, 201114 yr Author Thanks Ken appreciate it, I think flight is probablly going to be great hope its computer friendly not like fsx the computer hog. Rich Sennett
November 17, 201114 yr I too have high hopes for it. I think that the term "computer friendly" is going to be a relative term in that it will run fine a decent computer, but what was decent when FSX came out and what is going to be decent when Flight comes out, are going to be two different animals. Have to wait and see I guess. Ken Connors
November 17, 201114 yr Considering lm has the intellectual property rights to fsx (prepar3d) I really doubt much, if any, of the internal workings can legally be reused. That's mean an astronomically slim chance of backward compatibility with default aircraft, let alone something that goes so far beyond the scope of microsoft's sdk like the ngx.Disclaimer: this is pure conjecture on my part. November 17, 201114 yr Author Yes Ken well said. Ah Kenneth that does not sound good hmm to bad. Rich Sennett
November 17, 201114 yr Any significant changes to sim connect would guarantee most addons don't work and that's one of the biggest complaints I've heard from developers. Not necessarily pmdg mind you, but I've heard others comment that it needs a revamp. Kenneth Weir My Saitek yoke mod i7 2600k @ 4.7 8GB Gskill CAS7 2x GTX580 SLI Surround + GT520 Accessory Win7x64
November 17, 201114 yr Author Yah know Ken what the hell is sim connect see it all the time but never knew what it was ? Rich Sennett
November 17, 201114 yr It's how other programs "talk" to fsx. Let's them read the internal data & in some cases overwrite it. Fsc uses sim connect to get your gps location for example. Ase or Rex use it to inject new weather schemesEdit: stupid autocorrect. I had to edit this 3 times to fix it... November 17, 201114 yr Anyone well versed in sim connect is welcome to jump in and correct anything I might have said that was wrong or misleading, by the way. I'm not a programmer to I only know the paint-by-numbers picture... Kenneth Weir My Saitek yoke mod i7 2600k @ 4.7 8GB Gskill CAS7 2x GTX580 SLI Surround + GT520 Accessory Win7x64

Microsoft still own the rights to FSX AFAIK. So MS Flight may well have some backwards compatibility, if only in terms of file structures. Hopefully MS Flight will have a more detailed aero model, but I wouldn't bet on it.Disclaimer as yours.Kevin Hall

Still have simobjects folder etc.BUT, the main difference will probably be the models, effects, lighting, gauges and DirectX.
November 17, 201114 yr Did them buy the ip or get a license from ms? In theory, they could both use the same ip under ownership and licenses. Doug Orvis PP-ASEL-IA (USA), Based at KHEF Picture courtesy of Kyle Rodgers
