I really hope they do not make it backwards compatible. Because that would mean they have to use some of the old code which i think will hold back the full potential of what's technically possible nowadays. This would be a developers nightmare but we must go foreward. I realise that it's a dillema though. On the one hand we want to fly all our old purchased planes and on the other hand we want whatever is tecnically possible to get more and more realism.I think fsx could have been a much better product with more realism if they didn't port over a lot of the old code to make it backwards compatible.

I would not be surprised. And I would not count on MS Flight being a "serious" flight sim product with regard to exact modeling of atmosphere, weather, and any flight dynamics that goes beyond the most simple aircraft.Just read the FAQ at http://www.microsoft.com/games/flight/#faqTo me, it doesn't sound as if it addressed the hardcore simmer who expects maximum possible realism, at least not out of the box.We can only hope that MS Flight will make a decent platform with a good SDK so that addon developers can turn this thing into something for us realism guys.

I'd think that if there is any truth to the speculation that PMDG will port the NGX to XP10, there is a very very good chance they can handle a port of it to Flight!

You should read the entire website. This was covered like a year ago.Check out the news item from December 8 2010 on the Flight website

What I've heard is that PMDG has received a beta copy of XPlane 10, and they are considering to make their products for XPlane 10. So far Flight does look so promising, a little gamey. One big thing that needs to be changed, and what Flight and XPlane 10 will allow PMDG to make, it shadow and light casting inside the cockpit. FSX does not have this and it would be great if it was possible.

Yes, I did read this. It remains to be seen if this is just marketing babble. I personally hope for the best, but fear for the worst. It's a business, after all.I hope the released product will prove me wrong.

I see the NGX as a very significant life extension for FSX. I really did not start to use FSX until last year because it took computers a while to catch up. Flight still lacks details, and I don't see too many developers being in a rush to convert from FSX to Flight. Right now with FSX not only I'm I loving the NGX, but I've also been using ASE, UT2, AISmooth, and sceneries from Aerosoft (plus AES), Blueprint, FlyTampa, FSDreamTeam, ImagineSim, LatinVFR, ORBX, and VirtualCol. All this makes for some great flying, and once PMDG releases the 777, I'll have everything I need to fly from PMDG, the NHX for short flights, and the 777 for long flights. Luis Linares

MS Flight will not allow 3rd party addons apart from those made available through MS.As far as I know only Hawai will be covered and maybe an area around Seattle.I doubt a 737 will make much sense there. In my eyes the only future is FSX (still keep going sad.png), X-Plane 10 and maybe (but I doubt) Prepar3d.FinnJ

I don't remember having read this anywhere, but if you're right and MS would not allow 3rd party addons to contribute to MS Flight, they'd be cutting their own flesh. Only Hawaii and Seattle sceneries and some low-profile GA planes? C'mon! Wait until MS releases their own addon stuff, eventually? Or maybe not? Even MS cannot do everything.FSX wouldn't be half as popular if it weren't for all the addons. It's crap right out of the box and comes to life with addons only.

I'd be surprised if the content of this post wasnt absolute false and a complete fabrication with no relation to reality. Do you got any references for the claims you make or are you just pulling this out your rear end?

Microsoft is not interested in realistic simulation anymore. The money is in Gaming Consoles and Microsoft and several other big companies make titles that are compatible with both PC and Aging Console Hardware. As long as there is more money in the console market pc games will be held back from their full potentional so that console users can play the same titles. With that in mind I think X-plane 10 is the future of Flight Simulation. Eventually developers will shift over to this platform and Microsoft Flight brand will be abandoned and forgotten in a few years. If you had any doubts about this just read the Questions and Answers below.Q: What is "Microsoft Flight?"A:"Microsoft Flight" is a new PC game from Microsoft Game Studios. The new title will be available on the Games for Windows - LIVE service and will bring a new perspective to the long-standing "Flight Simulator" franchise. From new game play elements and enhanced scenery and terrain to new aircraft and integrated content marketplace, it is an entirely new breed of virtual flight. The Games for Windows - LIVE platform sets the stage for all your virtual flight needs while connecting you to a global base of users, content and endless exploration. Microsoft Flight builds off its heritage of deep, immersive simulation and is redesigned to make the experience easier for virtual fliers of all interests and skills.Q: How does “Microsoft Flight” differ from “Flight Simulator?” Why the new name? What’s changed?A:With “Microsoft Flight” we’re approaching the virtual flight genre from the ground up, with the focus on the universal appeal of the experience of Flight. We believe the simplicity of “Microsoft Flight” perfectly captures that vision while welcoming the millions of existing Flight Simulator fans. The new “Microsoft Flight” retains the full fidelity simulation longtime fans have come to expect while offering all players a whole new look and feel, a wide range of new game play and challenges, persistent experiences and social connectivity.Q: How does Games for Windows – LIVE factor in?A: Games for Windows – LIVE introduces a new level of connectivity to virtual flight, enhancing both the social and game play experiences of the title. Content is updated virtually. You can fly solo or join an entire global flight community online. You can easily connect with and facilitate flight experiences with your friends. The addition of Games for Windows - LIVE creates an ubiquitous virtual world of flight that offers easy and engaging access to the magic of flight for all.Q: Are the screenshots and webisodes shown on this site taken from in-game?A:All screenshots published on this site, as well as all webisodes starting with webisode 2, are captured in-game.

Sorry but this has been covered in alot of forums.Just one of them here:http://forum.avsim.n...ost__p__2163472Simply search through all known FS forums and You will find more reports of that kind.Maybe there is a reaso that the word "Sim" has been left out of MS' new title ;)Also note how addon developers and publishers now start moving to X-Plane.Carenado, Aerosoft and PMDG just noting that they will look into it too.I have read serveral places that Flight is focused on GA aircraft and, at least for the start, won´t have eatures for simulating complex airliners.FinnJ
