Thanks for the uplifting post Geoafa. I was planning on waiting for the Aerosoft release, but may reconsider and order it sooner.

I have not gotten ATC to work yet in the f33 but will probably wait till I get the full copy and have more time.

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

The first post in this thread got me. I'll be ordering my copy this evening.I did some serious checking of my system with XP9 and it appears the only issue is my graphics card. So a new Graphics card and I should be good to go with XPX.I don't have the demo because of limited bandwidth, but I have been following the discussions closely both here and the XP sites. Thanks guysPS keep it civil now ;)

@Geofa, I got the F33 ATC to work... You have to set your freq's in the Garmin GPS, they are Com & Nav 1!Give it a try.

Yeah-we should compile a useful list of plugins for newbies.. I am so glad for the go flight one-works perfectly and consistently. Wish I could get my elite 2000 to work...

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

Some things I discovered tonight which you may or may not know-you can assign the ai traffic to fly formation with you-pick the planes you want etc.-what a hoot! Taking off my wingman was overflying the airport waiting for me to pull into position. The real weather downloads make the clouds look so much better than the manual settings. Watching the weather come down even in the short demo time was spectacular-the virga, and eventual rain along with ground fog spectacular. There is an awful lot to discover in this sim and I can't wait to get the real thing to have more time to discover it!This sim is all about setting it up right-get the right combo of looks and performance and it really is something!I posted some screenies in the screenshot forum...
It's always great to have fun in the virtual skies ;-)

One thing I'm finding a bit overwhelming about X-Plane is how customizable it is.

@MM,That's the beauty of XP, you CAN almost always get what you want. Here's two more for "Push-em-Back"!Ground Services - Pushback, Refueling alpha-5http://forums.x-plan...&showfile=14790Simple Pushbackhttp://forums.x-plan...s&showfile=1130

People feel threatened any time something "new" comes along. It interferes with their financial and emotional attachment to a game. They will attempt to discredit the "new" and anyone who supports it. Saw it when FSX came out, will see it again when Flight comes out. To see people attack X-Plane now, whereas they would have never given X-Plane any thought before, is because they are threatened by it and it's chance of success. The possibility of it being "better" than what they have become emotionally attached to.There are plenty of MS FS'ers who will look for better and not feel threatened, by either X-Plane or Flight. Progress is good, so is competition. For all parties involved!
Think there is some truth here. How else would you explain the animosity between MW3/BF3 , NWN1 / NWN2 , ArmA2 / Operation Flashpoint 2 etc. gamers? All are excellent but for some reason or other , players will argue to the death that the one they have is better. That aside , Sounds like the OP discovers some very interesting X-Plane things and now I'm REALLY looking forward to getting my copy. And NO , I will not delete FSX. It has it's place for now at least.

One question I have if anyone knows the answer. One of the things I enjoyed last night on my sim flight were the beautiful high resolution ground textures. Now somewhere I read that if I copy my xplane 9 world scenery into 10 I could fly elsewhere than Seattle which I have done. The textures however are the old blurry ones thank frankly look pretty bad in my neck of the woods. Will there be a high detail texture set such as Seattle has for worldwide in the complete 10 package? I sure hope so...

That seems an unfair generalization. Given the tone of your post, one might wonder if you feel threatened by those who don't share your opinion of X-Plane.
I don't know what the tone of the post is, other than my thinking that people become attached to a computer game probably more than they should? I first noticed it when I saw a posting from a fellow about the AI parking at an airport. He was quite upset about a 737 parking at a spot. Not that it wasn't meant for a 737, but that it had the wrong engines for that particular spot.I still see postings about how one version of a game is superior to a later version, despite the obvious differences that dispel the notion. If the obvious can't sway opinions, what prompts the denial?Regarding my opinion of X-Plane, I have none other than I'm waiting to see how v10 matures. I bought v9.20 and installed it. Was put off by the UI and the squirrley flight characteristics of the Cessna and removed it from my HD to reclaim the disk space.I value my HD space. I use it to make payware add-ons for FSX. Nine HDs right now, with another couple showing up tomorrow via UPS. While I labor away at my latest project for FSX and wonder if it will be worthwhile or not, I am not threatened by X-Plane's release. It might turn out better than FSX? It might be better than Flight? I'll be looking for the one game that best suits my desires. If I can develop add-ons for that game, great! But I am still of the opinion that a lot of the people who use FS9 or FSX or X-Plane have a strong attachment to it. And anything that might threaten that attachment is prone to attack.
One thing I'm finding a bit overwhelming about X-Plane is how customizable it is.
stop telling yourself that .. the customization is really no different version FSX

Strangely, that plug-in kills my frame rates. I have XP10 tuned to give me a pretty steady 15FPS, but with that plug-in, it drops to single digits. I have to delete the plug-in and restart my computer to get things working smoothly again. This is on a 64-bit Linux system.
