Orbx for XPX.... NO!

I don't think Mountain Man was referring to you in particular. He is correct in his assessment. XPX could prove to hurt their bottom line if it takes off. I personally believe it will, and I'm not alone. We have no allegiance, the better simulator wins.
I don't think X-Plane will hurt developers bottom line one bit... if they want to develop for X-Plane. It's up to them to go that route and X-Plane's existence isn't going to be the deciding factor. There's appears to be this assumption that X-Plane will "drain" the FS9/FSX user base... and I don't think I agree with that myself. However, only time will truly tell.As for MS Flight... who knows what that's going to be... personally I'm not expecting much beyond an enhanced XBox experience. My opinion. ;)
My comment wasn't directed at you.

I've found your criticisms of X-Plane to be well-presented and reasonable, so I wouldn't put you in the "trash-talk" category.

If we're lucky, as simmers, they'll pay attention to people's statements and try to address them.

Hi,I tried P3D and there is not alot of difference that I can see.I tried the ORBX demo and it worked great, but since the demo did not contain the KSEA area, it was difficult for me to judge. I did find that my frames were less but it was smooth. As John at ORBX pointed out, P3D does have future plans but he constrained by NDA to discuss. I guess we just need to wait. So if anyone is interested in P3D, you really wont see much difference IMO. I flew for many hours with most sliders at max and I did not experience any stability issues.Bob

I downloaded pd3 yesterday and because I didn't do much research I did not realise that thrackir is not currently supported. That is a real bummer so I have not put much time in to playing with it. I did do another night flight in xp last night and the approach was so awesome and the landing lights appearing on the runway that I got my wife in to have a landing as well.

If she's anything like my wife, she probably glanced at the screen and said, "Well, I'm going to bed."

Worse, I pulled her out of bed to do it :)

I'm amazed you lived to tell the tale.

OK, so now that I am still alive by the kindness of my forgiving wife I have another question related to the topic. What is it I should download for scenery? I can see lots about but I dont want to waste Gigs trying out stuff that may or may not be good. Id there a must have package in the xplane world?

Jason, your wife sounds like an excellent addon!Bak to scenery. We trawl thru almost every xplane scenery at our blog, do youll see lots there. I video the best. Take a look at PARIS packages at XPFR (not at org). EICK Cork should be payware, at Org.Too many to mention right now, but there are lot of bad ones out there alsoJavier Rollons site has his LESA, it's brilliantTry our KMPI (first ever scenery) but don't follow the signs! Or our last, better version, KMMH (sorry for plugging, but they're free). If you like graffiti, you'll love it.

What you and me define as "good" is entirely subjective. I personally have:http://www.scenery4x...ssage/Home.htmlhttp://www.scenery4x...l_Frontier.htmlhttp://www.scenery4x...ckies/Home.htmlFrankly it is not Orbx (I have the full PNW for FSX too so can do a subjective comparison). But I love it as it adds 100% to the immersion factor while flying in X-Plane by providing a huge makeover of the coverage areas in terms of populating airports with appropriate buildings to eliminate the XP sterilty of runway/base taxiways only, making Vancouver look like a proper city, and the countless easter eggs planted everywhere that pop up as you look out of the cockpit. Not to mention the Winterworld textures (free) that hey presto give you-winter! Well supported and excellent value for the money. And utterly zero impact on frames. He also does single airport detailed studies that I have not looked at yet.The UK photo scenery also looks nice too; however, I do not have that product. There is a review of a specific photo scenery area coming very VERY soon here as well. Let me get back to that actually Whistle.gif .I hope this helps. You can also find loads of varying quality freeware scenery at the .org site.**edit**The Tom Curtis sceneries have demos. It will take you about 30 seconds to install and try them out for yourself.**Edit**Please note that all the above is based on XP9.7. The Curtis scenery is or will be fully supported under XPX according to the dev; however, I cannot comment further on this without actually using them within XPX.
