December 11, 201114 yr Hello, finally Im going to save the NGX onto a disk. My question is what files do I save? The downlaod and installation or the PMDG 737 NGX files which are inside the PMDG folder? My download link has expired and I think Ive cleared the download list (uh oh) so if thats the case what should I do? December 11, 201114 yr You need the installation file from the link. Suggest you get the extended download link.
December 11, 201114 yr I am getting ready to purchase and intend to save from the beginning. How big is the file? Thanks, Ron Fields
December 11, 201114 yr The zipped version is 647MB.All I have done is burned the zipped file plus the sp to a dvd...Hope that helps Richie Lumsden
December 11, 201114 yr Good idea to also paste your activation code into a text file and save it as well. Then you don't have to worry about losing the email. Kenneth Weir My Saitek yoke mod i7 2600k @ 4.7 8GB Gskill CAS7 2x GTX580 SLI Surround + GT520 Accessory Win7x64
December 11, 201114 yr You should save the installer! If your trying to back-up your NGX with "copy and pasting" the files to a burnt disk is not the right way or even will work later on a new machine as in the installation process files are made for THAT computer I believe, If you could just copy and paste the installed files to a disk or ZIP file then this be the worlds easy plane to pirate, and that's far from PMDG taste thank goodness! And also sure there are Regkeys made in the installation too witch a copy and paste will not take care of.Not to mention finding all the files the NGX installation made are in more places then the PMDG/NGX folder as you asked. There are files in Effects folder that you need I'm sure, and others in Simobjects an sure even others directories. As for the advice to save your serial/reg to a text file is really of no need as all that info in on your PMDG account that your can easily login and look at when needed later. -Raven HarrisIntel i7 980X @ 4.43GHz | ASUS Rampage III | Corsair 6GB DDR3 2000MHz | 3 EVGA GTX280 | Corsair 1200 Watt | Intel 510 SSD (RAID 0)PMDG - 747-400/8iF | MD11/F | BAe J41 | 737NG 6/7/8/9 Hope ER/BBJ|777LR/FFlight1- Cessna Mustang
December 11, 201114 yr Sometimes people forget rarely used passwords, or if you change passwords on a regular basis & forget to also change it on their website you may have trouble remembering what it was. But I guess you have to forget your email too; then password recovery would be imposable. Call this the perfect storm! -Raven HarrisIntel i7 980X @ 4.43GHz | ASUS Rampage III | Corsair 6GB DDR3 2000MHz | 3 EVGA GTX280 | Corsair 1200 Watt | Intel 510 SSD (RAID 0)PMDG - 747-400/8iF | MD11/F | BAe J41 | 737NG 6/7/8/9 Hope ER/BBJ|777LR/FFlight1- Cessna Mustang
December 11, 201114 yr It isn't really necessary, but still a good habit to get into. If you only log in to buy their latest release who knows what might have happened in that time? Moving & switching ISPs could mean a new email address for some people & if you forgot to change it in an account you haven't logged into for 8 months... December 12, 201114 yr Why dont u just back up your hard drive to an external drive same thing as saving it to a disk you can still retrieve it for later use, or if your hard drive crashes for some reason than it just a simple case of reloading from your external to your new drive again in a few minutes. Will save you heaps of hassles of insttalling again so simple I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
December 12, 201114 yr That is true if you mean RAID like 1:1 backup. Not quite so if we are talking copying the folders. As said, registry entries and more make problems.Either buying lifetime download service (that is what "extended" is, isnt it really?) or saving(burning) your downloaded installer is what you want to do.Also, why use ISP emails? When there are services like gmail, you are much better off with that. --Peter Fabian
