February 11, 201214 yr Hiya JakePhew yep well done on those, I'd done similar for just one approach months ago and know how much work it was. However I can tell you, Mariano is almost done, I'd only anticipate a few more days, we're putting together the install at the moment and are pretty much done. And I can also tell you he's done a great job. February 11, 201214 yr Hi John,I know; I couldn't wait I've been flying RNAV23 approaches all evening, getting the speeds and heights right according to the charts.I love NZQN; It's a beautiful approach with ORBX going on and an ANZ livery; quite challenging with a full 700 too, but I think I may not have caught those last two fixes bang on; I've had to go manual to get closer to that big hill on the left to get on the proper line at short final..That's my shaky mouse finger lol - you should see my shooting hand though There's Lots going on very quickly then :( Do 736/7 fly into NZQN in RL? I wouldn't like to fly a 738 or 739 in there..not much time to be slowing down..I have to agree with what Ryan has said in a couple of posts: the 700 is the easiest to fly..I am actually amazed at how easy it is to make it do what you want it to. If this is a truly faithful reproduction of how the plane handles in RL at the same speeds and configurations, then blow me down with a feather; I'm off to try and blag my way into a 737 sim I'm really looking forward to Mariano's proper approaches. I take it you guys are doing a proper set of RNP approaches that we can select in the FMC? Not like mine (drawn on the back of a cigarette packet lol)I'll post some vids later on; just want to get it juuust right :( Had a couple of landings where, had I been a passenger, not only would I have asked for my money back; I would have needed to change my underwear, too :Whistle:bestjake Edited February 11, 201214 yr by quadraspleen JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
February 12, 201214 yr Hi JakeYes Mariano's certainly put a huge effort into them being 'proper' and IMHO they are superb. I've been helping around the edges, but all of that is his work and I do think you'll be impressed and yes they appear as you would expect in FMC, Sids too, which are every bit as much fun as the approaches. Have you watched that ANZ video back a page or two here, it's well worth a watch. The 736 is nice isn't it, and with the vrefs being 10kts or so less than the 800 makes the whole process smooooother :).ANZ flies 737-300 of course but size wise the 700 is a good match. Check the author of that ANZ 700/300 if you got it from AVSIM :)Happy LandingsJohn John O'Duffyi7 Win7 64 16GB RAM500G SSD FSX Drive 1TB the rest NVIDIA 980Tii PMDG 1900D MD11 JS41 737NGX 777 747 Orbx AS2016 My Repaints on AVSIM https://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=duffy&CatID=root&Go=Search
February 12, 201214 yr Cant wait to try these approaches with the best 2 products available NGX & ORBX. Jeff Blyth MD11 J41 747 NGX . . awaiting 777 !!!
February 13, 201214 yr ZQN is a favorite destination of mine. Attached ZIP archive has an FSX FP that includes the the RW23 RNAV Z approach.Archive also includes the approach plate that I used for manual preparation of the FP. After importing the plan into the NGXFMC ensure that you enter the correct altitude restrictions, etc (as necessary) that are shown on the Approach Plate so thatyou don't bump into something on the way down ~;) "Hey Ed, what's that mountain goat doing way up here in the clouds !! ?".As mentioned elsewhere in this thread, http://www.aip.net.nz/ is an excellent source for NZ Plates, etc. Oh ! And don't forget to dial in some some low overcast and fog :Nerd:Best to all,KenWith regard to the attached TXT files > the "NZAANZQN" file is in PMDG format. To be useful it must be placed in the..Flight Simulator XPMDGFLIGHTPLANS folder and it's extension must be changed to RTE in order for it to beselectable (loaded) by the NGX FMC. The "NZAANZQN23" file is in FSX format and goes into the ..DocumentsFlight Simulator X Files folder and the extensionchanged from TXT to PLN. Edited February 13, 201214 yr by Elsmoko Ken Boardman
February 13, 201214 yr Author OK, Version 1 is finished and I uploaded to Avsim 5 mintues ago. It is listed under FSX - Miscellaneous Files, with the name "NGX Terminal Procedures for Queenstown, New Zealand - NZQN"Will be available as soon as Avsim updates their library cue. Thanks to John O'Duffy (aka Crankpin) in these forums for helping with the beta testing and for making the automated installer which is included in the upload. If you do not like editing text files with notepad it makes installing very simple and clean. If something is not covered in the readme (which is quite legthy), please post any comments, experience, or questions in this thread and I will visit once in a while to respond. Enjoy flying in and out of NZQN in your NGX in crappy weather with RNP accuracy. :(
