December 18, 201114 yr Now that the beta is about to begin, the alpha testing is finished. For those who were not paying attention at school, alpha comes before beta.Anyway, those of us who were fortunate (or not, depends on your point of view) to participate in the alpha test are the only ones who really know all the features of Flight. And at great personal risk, I shall now reveal to all some of the many new elements that will surprise and even shock many of you, but also confirm to even more what you have all feared. Please keep all of the following to yourselves as it is still under a non-disclosure agreement. So many users wanted the next version of Flight Simulator to look like Crysis and the guys in Redmond do listen to their customers. Here are some exclusive screenshots where you can see the eerie resemblance between the two:Many of you are convinced that Flight will be oriented principally towards gamers, and I regretfully inform you that it is all true. Users will be required to accomplish various gaming levels before being allowed access to the flight mode. Here is a shocking image of one of those “Game” levels:Finally, it is commonly believed that only the big island of Hawaii will be covered by Flight. This is not at all true – in fact, coverage extends to the entire world. However, terrain and scenery will be minimal, some will even say a regression. In order to obtain high resolution scenery, users will be forced to access their Microsoft Live account (get your credit cards ready) and stream the package to their installation. And this is required each and every time the user flies in that part of the world. In addition, aircraft will have minimal features and texturing as can be seen from the following screenshot – there again, in order to obtain high definition, accurately performing aircraft, you will have to access Live and stream the addon:As for me, Microsoft will probably not invite me to another alpha test for having broken their non-disclosure agreement. But, I don't care – I'm done with this version of FS. It's off to bigger and better things for me. Modern Warfare here I come. Or since Flight will look so much like Crysis, maybe I shall just play... gasp!...Crysis!Best regards.(Name withheld for my own protection) Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
December 18, 201114 yr No, no, Luis, don't give up just yet ! Let them come out with the demo or whatever they bundle the demo with along with their new structure for marketing, targeting and sales store. The least people like you, who have contributed immensely to the FS community and helped make the FS franchise what it is today, could do is wait a month or two, before you make a decision and just may be the decision may not be entirely up to you, sadly.Willing to wait, have been waiting ever since the first introduction of MSFS on an IBM PC compatible. What's a couple more months ?I reserve the right to get pi$$ed off later !
December 18, 201114 yr Best regards.(Name withheld for my own protection)Luis, you have WAY TOO MUCH FREE TIME!
December 18, 201114 yr Commercial Member Damnit I almost believed that first picture is really from flight and proves it being some arcade game where you can run around Hawaii and fly small planes there, but then I found out that its n0thing :(

December 21, 201114 yr I take it from that last screenshot, they're implementing some SSAO that eliminates on-GPU anti-aliasing for some post-processing effect that doesn't work? Sounds promising... ;-) Aaron
