how to speed up the MINIMUMS knob

Featured Replies

Not a big issue for airports close to sea level, but flying into KDEN for example, setting the Baro DH to 5000+ ft can take a lot of mousing on the minimums knob.Using the mouse wheel helps a bit, but any other tweak or shortcut, or even a simple LUA script for a two speed scroll?* Orest

I assigned mine to the number pad '9' and '3' keys so I can just hold down to set BARO mins.I mainly use Radio for my mins.

Not a bad idea to assign to a key, with the rapid repeat. However, radio minimums are for CatII/III only.* Orest

I've also assigned key commands for increasing/decreasing baro minimums, but it doesn't help much. I really hope PMDG implements some type of input acceleration for the minimums knob, and I also think it would be nice to have the Captains and F/Os minimums be synced, just like you can do with the altimeters.

The minimums knob is AGL isn't it? 100 feet above Denver is 100 feet above KSAN. Or am I missing something. Oh.... Baro .... I never use that thing.

Using the RA is a way to step around that, sort of, but as I mention it is intended use only for Cat II/Cat III approaches.* Orest

I don't think FSX knows the difference between CAT II or CAT III or CAT I for that matter. To me, any aiport with an ILS is a potential autoland with 100 Radio minimums. Until i learn to program AS2012 with thick fog to 50 feet, my mins are always 100 Radio. I guess I need to expand my FSX experience.

I agree, something like Ctrl+Mouse wheel to increment the Baro mins by the 100's would be ideal. SP2 input perhaps?

If one goes to airport with for example only a VOR/DME (I usually fly to those minor airports (holiday) most of my times)one have to use BARO and not RADIO. So, I would also like to have, when dialing with right mouse, it would increase with 100 and left step by step as i does now./ Leffe

It's as simple as adding a separate hotkey to increment/decrement the mins by 100s. FWIW, assigning a hotkey and holding it down is the best solution right now, but still slow and tedious. The radar altimeter is not legal for use except on approaches where the DH is specified as RA--that's Cat II/III ILS only. Minimums on a Cat I ILS are baro, as a Cat I approach is not designed, certified, or flight tested for use of RA settings--this can be a problem for approaches where the DH is reached over water, or when there is significant terrain just off the approach end of the rwy.

The hotkey or button push I can add, but how do I access the "incr/decr by 100s" function?* Orest

Also, I know at a specific airline, the BARO minimums is used on departure, to set the acceleration height. For example, ABQ is at an elevation of 5355MSL. The acceleration altitude at that airport is 1000AGL, so the BARO minimums is set to 6355. With out some sort of input acceleration, it takes forever to dial that in. And yes, I've tried mouse wheel and key assignment at the same time...helps, but not that much.
