January 4, 201214 yr Latest press release of Microsoft "indicates" that MS has no intention of building a sim. "Flight" will be a free, downloadable, Hawaii-only, Arcade-game for "everybody". FSX won´t be dead anytime soon, because simmers invested a lot into it and 3PDs are pushing the limits of FSX over and over again. But the cost for that will increase and for sim-newcomers nowadays FSX is hardly attractive. So more and more simmers and hardcore-developers will inevitable move to XP10. It is now the only sim that is kept up to date and utilizes modern hardware. If Laminar makes some real effort designing XP more user friendly (UI, UI, UI, UI, a small training mission, in-game-help - not dialing down complexity or flight-experience!) the change would be even faster.Anyway, good times to come for XP... Flo B.
January 4, 201214 yr XP IS already user friendly!Missions: Buy a different GAME!In-Game Help... your kidding! You haven't purchased any Pay-ware Aircraft yet?Hardcore-Developers moving to XP: XP has some very Hardcore-Developers! January 4, 201214 yr Commercial Member hardcore-developers will inevitable move to XP10.Why do people keep saying that??
January 4, 201214 yr I think that people keep saying that because probably they are so used to the MSFS franchise developers, as they have been around for quite some time.Lets tell people to go to the .ORG I think some of these people are new to X-Plane, (as am I), and haven't yet gone there. I don't mean to chase people away from this forum or avsim in general, but there are other flight sim web sites out there.Check out http://www.x-plane.org/ there you will find a lot of hardcore developers. January 4, 201214 yr Author XP IS already user friendly!Missions: Buy a different GAME!In-Game Help... your kidding! You haven't purchased any Pay-ware Aircraft yet?Hardcore-Developers moving to XP: XP has some very Hardcore-Developers!Well, just deleted my extensive comment incidently. Now the short version:Please calm down, not saying or intending one thing some of you suggested. And why so offensive?Saying only that MORE hardcore-developers will move to XP. There are already a lot of good ones - no doubt.Saying UI should be MORE user friedly. If you really believe that the UI is perfect - I will not try to talk you over. Why would a tutorial flight, some more extensive explanations (of the rendering settings for example), or an integrated help (in addition to the manual) make XP10 a game???By the way, did you read that: "not dialing down complexity or flight-experience!"?Feels like a lack of phantasy and coolness to me...Done.PS: Know all the websites, own the MU-2 and other XP payware ACF. Know about IXEG, JRollon and all the others. Thanks nonetheless. Edited January 4, 201214 yr by FloB Flo B.

January 4, 201214 yr I thought xplane does missions via "mission x" ?I have not tried them; however, for those that enjoy FS Economy that works just fine with X-Plane (unsure about XPX as of yet).So Air Hauler as a payware option, FSE and "mission x" as freeware, and I think I have seen adverts for various training-type add-ons available as well. But seriously....are missions really a big deal? With the user option to choose from the above coupled with the possibility of VA flying the sky is open for "plausible" fun if you will pardon the expression. And as for ATC...well...no substitute for online flight in my opinion and LR will probably improve the default rendition over time.I'm not sure I would write off MS Flight just yet-but we really have to await the actual release roadmap to see where they plan to go. January 4, 201214 yr Author @ZachLW: Confused by that one. Did you edit the quote? I can't find it. Talking to whom? Me? Edited January 4, 201214 yr by FloB Flo B.
January 4, 201214 yr Microsoft may not realize it yet, but they just give Austin Meyer and X-Plane 10 a huge gift.
January 4, 201214 yr Not sure about that MM. I'd have prefered that Xplane 10 also took a similar approach-a small highly detailed geographic area for free with the promise of more soon to come for purchase, rather than a huge undetailed area of everything. I for instance pretty much never fly anywhere but the US-worldwide scenery has not much interest for me. I'd prefer highly detailed areas of the places I want to fly. Both approaches have their plusses and minuses-and it remains to be seen what the final Flight model is. I have not tried them; however, for those that enjoy FS Economy that works just fine with X-Plane (unsure about XPX as of yet).So Air Hauler as a payware option, FSE and "mission x" as freeware, and I think I have seen adverts for various training-type add-ons available as well. But seriously....are missions really a big deal? I did one for fsx which gives the pilot a sense of what happens to a pilot when they loose an engine in a Baron at critical altitude-when they least expect it. The VA/game stuff has little appeal to me. Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
