January 9, 201214 yr What I want is for X-Plane to offer as much if not more than what FSX offers. As far as I'm concerned, it already does.

January 9, 201214 yr I want better than what X-Plane's offering... I won't purchase a beta... if X-Plane wants more FS people to switch... might really want to listen to what we have to say instead of dismissing us. Of course... if you don't want more FS people to switch, that's ok... just say so... and I suspect most of us will be happy to leave X-Plane at it's current level of "almost-was".You still don't get it do you? It's not a case of where the FS USER wants to go. It's a case of where the FS DEVELOPERS want to go!Wherever THEY go, the FS crowd will follow - including you! Trust me!And - whichever they choose will eventually be a fantastic platform regardless of which it is.But I can guarantee you it will not be P3D if the pricetag of 4-500$ (or whatever) stays. The market will just be too small for developers - too small platform. Also, because the P3D EULA says one thing doesn't mean there cant be more legal contractsbetween MS and LM with restrictions. In fact it is very likely there is.I see you are a commercial member and I don't know which hat you have on right know, user or commercial, but to me it sounds like you have an agenda with your posts. And I suspect we'll see a lot more of those in the time aheadwhen "the battle of the developers" will unfold. And your concern applies to my wants how?? Like I said, your wants are irrelevant at this point. Which ever platform appeals most to the developers will winthe major battle. The users will follow.M Edited January 9, 201214 yr by MortenM Morten Melhuus
January 9, 201214 yr Commercial Member Ed, (The following is an opinion based on your previous comments)What you want is an FSX SDK, FSX scenery, FSX developers, basically, you want X Plane to look, smell and feel like FSX. Because you're a commercial developer, and an old timer, it pains you to see FSX live out it's last few years with no successor to take it over. (Unless P3D do something different). It WAS going to be Flight, but now that's dashed. X Plane is not changing for those who want what you want. It is what it is. 10's of thousands of new users have bought x plane. None of them are whining about FSX vs X Plane comparisons. They accept it is what it is and are embracing it. All this stuff about "I really want X Plane to succeed, I really do!" from a few people is all just hogwash. If you want it to succeed, download it and start submitting bug reports like the rest of us.If you want to develop for it, better start studying up on how to make add ons for it. Nothing is getting changed on that side of things.Alternatives? Wait and see if Flight changes drastically, wait and see if Aerofly adds a mountain of code or wait and see if P3D is the preferred choice. Coming in here and trying to start an argument is hardly productive. X Plane isn't going anywhere and neither are any of its developers. Not to mention the FSX developers moving to X Plane because they see what it is capable of and want capitalize.Aerosoft, Carenado, HiFiSim are just the start. PMDG have expressed interest, after twice saying they have NO interest because X Plane is too unstable. It's only a matter of time before developers realize that pretty much the only viable option is X Plane. However, should you decide you would prefer to develop for P3D, hey, by all means, go right ahead. Ed, trust me when I say this, you will not be missed.Do what makes you happy. No one is stopping you, and at least you have control over THAT.
January 9, 201214 yr +1I want X-plane to LIVE UPTO IT'S HYPE - AND, HOPEFULLY, ACHIEVE A GOO PORTION OF IT'S POTENTIAL.In the past XP hasn't lived up to its potential. However, this release is different. A few MSFS developers have started developing for XP, and based on Flight being a dud ... many more MSFS developers will be moving to XP. The stars are lining up nicely for XP.
January 10, 201214 yr The stars are lining up nicely for XP.Exactly. PMDG realizes that X-Plane will allow them to make addons and keep all their revenue, as earlier MSFS versions allowed. No rev share.
January 10, 201214 yr Thread title says it all. Big Sigs with PC Specs are just another way for men to Compensate.
