Does anyone remember New Coke back in 1985?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_CokeCompany headquarters in Atlanta started receiving letters expressing anger or deep disappointment. Over 400,000 calls and letters were received by the company, including one letter, delivered to Goizueta, that was addressed to "Chief Dodo, The Coca-Cola Company". Another letter asked for his autograph, as the signature of "one of the dumbest executives in American business history" would likely become valuable in the future. The company hotline, 1-800-GET-COKE, received 1,500 calls a day compared to 400 before the change. A psychiatrist Coke hired to listen in on calls told executives some people sounded as if they were discussing the death of a family member I for one feel like I've lost a family member....Cheers

I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

And some mophead put sugar in Heinz 57 sauce about 25 years ago. Heinz 57 sauce, while not inexpensive, will save a marginal or bad steak to the point that it is at least half way enjoyable. It overrides the marginal taste with something very unique which is in between and a bit tasty. That was it's marketing nitch. At most restaurants you have to ask for it because people will steal it if they leave it out. It's kind of expensive to buy. Anyway, people were buying up all the old stuff as fast as they could. I found 4 bottles still on the shelves. After their sales tanked, they took the sugar back out. And it was as good as ever. To this day it is still my only "bailout" for a marginal to poor steak.BobOh yes... Walmart's cheaper knock off of this sauce is the Flight, of Flight Simulator. Once you've have a small taste of the real deal, there is no going off to something which is close but no cigar. It's worth the extra money.

BMW decided that the 7 Series needed to be totally "restyled" in 2002. When they proudly revealed the changes that no one asked for infused with the technology that no one wanted, the outcry was far and wide. BMW saw a sales plunge and thousands of people like me who were loyal BMW drivers went over to Audi and their sales went through the roof. The same is true of ANYTHING with a dedicated following. The most valuable thing that a person can offer another is their emotional attachment. When that happens, tread lightly, because if you do anything to hurt those emotions the backlash is pretty much exactly what you see in these forums. Whether it is your flight simulator, Coca-cola, football, car or spouse once emotions come into play...be careful.

Mike, the key words are "marginal or bad steak." Four decades ago I took a date to a very expensive and exclusive Kansas City steakhouse, and watched while she dumped nealy a half-bottle of Heinz 57 over some of the best melt-in-your-mouth prime rib anyone could dream about. I damn near broke down in tears......the next (and last) date I took her to White Castle.

All that Heinz must have really overpowered all the butter!
She may as well have simply drunk the bottle of Heinz and let me eat the huge portion of delectable prime rib!

The stuff gets to be an addiction. Back in the day I used to go to Kansas City myself quite a bit, and a friend who lived there would take me out for one of those luscious corn fed steaks KC is known for. No H57 on those steaks. Then we'd always head out to a place called "The Levee". I recently found out that after all these years it's still open. I've tipped quite a few in there. Good memories, and every Tuesday night we would close them down listening to a dynamite Dixieland band that came in once a week.http://www.thelevee.net/Bob - Las Cruces,NM

Oh my, I haven't been to "The Levee" since shortly after my last date at the White Castle. Besides, by then I'd sold my Chevy so I had no way to get there... :dance:I forgot to mention that when we'd gotten our order at the White Castle, I silently handed her a bottle of Heinz I'd brought......she looked at me as if I had three heads, and I could hear her thinking, "Is this looser nuts? Ruin a perfectly yummy Gut BusterTM?" :(
