Featured Replies

What is the best Airbus addon available for FSX as at January 2012? I dont mind what aircraft it is (A320, A330, A340 etc...). But i want to know the best Airbus aircraft addon that is available at the moment.

Now theres a tuff one...I use Aerosofts airbus x its light on systems but they are due to release the extended version soon which will add some more depth to fmc/fbw, that will/does keep me going untill FSL release theres.

Right now as of this moment, Aerosoft Airbus X as stated above but will be better when the extended version is released. Also, Black Box Simulations is making an A320 *Remastered* Edition so there will be a couple 320's out there for you to decide soon.

What about other Airbus models? Like the A330, A340?

Wilco Airbus series vol2 afaik

Is it still true that Precision Flight Controls hardware will not work with the aerosoft A320? That has been what is holding me up in getting it.

Wilco's Airbus Evo has the most complete minus fly-by-wire. It's half baked but it gets the job done. It's the most stable, systems modeled Airbus. The Aerosoft 'Bus Blaze posted is "pretty". But that's about it so far.

Minus Fly-by-wire? The Wilco A320 models this well except for overspeed protection, all other laws are supported.

Thanks

Pardon me. Let me clarify. The FBW feels cheap or broken in the Wilco. Like before, it "gets the job done".

Not sure what you mean by this? I actually think the graphics are the weak point of the Simcheck bus. It's not a side stick fly-by-wire Bus if that's what the OP want's but he didn't specify. Systems wise its quite deep with an impressive but dated INS navigation system and autopilot. It's been out for awhile now, two service packs. There are plenty of user comments available as well as "Chock's" nice review right here in the Avsim Aircraft review section if anyone is unfamiliar with it. Simcheck is also suppose to be releasing another update with a full FMC system soon.

By "deep", what do you mean? When I hear the words "deep" and "simulation" together, my mind goes to the NGX. Most reliable sources say it's "lite" on systems, between default and something realistic. You're right, though, the OP didn't qualify their needs, so it's up in the air. BTW, the screen shots and videos (and reviews, and comments) sure tell a different story. The aesthetics are the strong point.

what is the Airbus addon that is closest to the quality of PMDG addons like the 737NGX? I know there is no Airbus addon as good as the PMDG addon. But what is the closest? I do not want old airbuses like the A300. But something new like the A320 & above

I don't have the Wilco Evo, but from I've read in reviews it's the best you can get in terms of system depth. But unless you're in a rush to get into an Airbus cockpit now then I'd wait until Aerosoft releases their Airbus extended edition and compare those two.The one being developed by FSLabs looks very promising, but my bet is that you won't see it in action this year...

Tom
