February 12, 201214 yr Hello,Im in the market for a new craft but cant really decide, now before I ask, i want to state that im not arguing pmdg price on the md-11!!!My question is, why is it so much more then the 747?? is it THAT much better then the 747??I ask as im consideringa few diffrent aircraft, and two of them are the 747 and md-11.Thank you Intel I7 12700KF / 32 GB Ram-3600mhz / Windows 11 - 64 bit / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060TI / 32" Acer Monitor, Honeycomb alpha/bravo, CH rudder pedals, Tobii 5, Buttkicker, Logitech radio panel.
February 12, 201214 yr The MD-11 has more programming than the 747 and the MD-11 is more detailed than the 747. Kenny Lee"Keep climbing"
February 13, 201214 yr Commercial Member You can get the boxed version on amazon for both the 747 and the MD-11 combined, for less than the cost of the MD-11 at PMDG's website.I greatly prefer the MD-11 to the 747, although if they updated the air file I might consider purchasing the 747-8. February 13, 201214 yr This is from a user who first bought the 737NGX....I loved it....Then, about 2 weeks ago, I bought the MD-11......no other aircraft gets any love now.The MD-11 is so different, fun, and challenging to fly, I am unsure why I actually took so long to buy it. It is worth the money they charge...it is rare you find a addon as complete and well made as the MD-11. William Sequeira
February 13, 201214 yr I am a broke student but I do not regret the decision to purchase the MD11. Is that enough? Manfred Manfred G. Ships are cooler that you think.
February 13, 201214 yr PMDG has ceased their fs9 releases. They've created golden years of fs9 era,. They closed it with this magnificent aircraft, it sums up all their amazing fs9 products in a package.
February 13, 201214 yr Author Im thinking of spljrging on this one, How is the VC?? Is it a "usuable" VC??Thanks again Intel I7 12700KF / 32 GB Ram-3600mhz / Windows 11 - 64 bit / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060TI / 32" Acer Monitor, Honeycomb alpha/bravo, CH rudder pedals, Tobii 5, Buttkicker, Logitech radio panel.
February 13, 201214 yr I find the VC perfectly usable. Now I'm used to it I don't need to fall back on the 2D cockpit although unlike the NGX there is a full set of 2D panels included.Andy Lawton
February 13, 201214 yr Commercial Member The MD-11 is close to the NGX in terms of how much I appreciate the VC. I don't use any 2D panels to fly her to my best recollection. February 13, 201214 yr The VC is very usable. It may bot have 4096 textures all throughout it....but it is all very nice. Once you go MD, you will never go back. William Sequeira
February 13, 201214 yr I didn't use VCs (and thought they were overrated) until the MD-11. It is not the same standard as the NGX is terms of high resolution detail, but it is much better than the 747. I got the MD-11, then the 747, then the NGX. The MD-11 is by far my favorite. If they bring the 747 up to NGX standards (there is a rumor they might), then the MD-11 will get some stiff competition, but it is still a GREAT plane. The MD-11 is missing a voice control version of FS2Crew, but that's all I can come up with that it lacks. It is a much more in-depth simulation than the 747 currently is. I generally only drag out the 747 for some very rare ultra longhaul legs that the MD-11 just doesn't quite have the legs for. I managed to squeak out KATL-FAJS in the MD-11, but something like KDFW-YBBN just seems to be too a bit too far.My two cents: you won't regret the purchase! February 14, 201214 yr Could not agree more... I got the NGX first and after visiting a friend and watching the MD11 i decided there and then to go for it.I added EZDOCK, AOA training and mce voice control and i have not looked back. Ezdock in my opinion is a must have. The vibration in the cockpit and shakes when it reads the weather and interprets turbulence give it an amazing sense of visual realism.... The only downside is that a "solid" landing is also well represented!!! Also bought the just planes Swissair MD11 series to watch a real crew in action, then you realise what a fantastic job PMDG did on this product and why it is worth every cent!!
