It was a joke Tony. See that little smiley there?

It's not only about negativity... critics are necessary for any products to get better in the future. I don't think it's being negative to say that you would like to see more airports, atc, ai traffic, sdk etc in MS Flight. Nothing is perfect so is MS Flight.
Thank you - mirror my view exactly.

Online activation is necessary for most games now. Think of the Internet as a service, like electricity. You don't go around worrying that you won't be able to play Flight, or any other online, if there were a power-cut. So this doesn't worry me.Flight might be very simple out of the box, but this doesn't worry me.The only thing that worries me is that MS will only only DLC, and they will control that DLC and will only allow select companies to develop for that DLC. That has made me decide not to use Flight. Nothing else. If in five years time, things have changed, then I'll use Flight. In the meantime, all those who are against this business model should criticise it. That way there may be a change. However I fear it will come too late.I'm going to carry on with FSX, and purchase X-plane 10 when it's got beyond beta. While keeping an eye on P3D and Flight. I've no idea how will things will turn out.

What are you talking about?
To be more clear, you must always log into Live, but you must not allow Flight to connect to the Internet if you want to stay offline. Your login to Live is local and must be maintained during the session or you have to restart Flight.IIRC, GTA IV required the same thing on the PC.

What part of the text highlighted in red isn't clear? :(
No, you can play offline without ever connecting to Microsoft or creating a LIVE profile. Games for Windows — LIVE supports the creation and use of an offline “local” profile that exists only on the user’s computer.
Look, the entire Flight server network is off-line until later this month, yet I'm still flying around trying out some of the things I've not done yet, such as locating an Aerocache at the intersection of three VOR radials some 60nm offshore at 4,000' AGL......which is kind of tricky navigation given that there are only two NAV radios and VOR heads to use at any one time. One solution of course is to have the third VOR freq tuned to NAV2 Stby and use the transfer/swap freq button every so often... :(

Just go and read the posts in the beta forum. It is still up. Scroll down to "Trying to fly offline". There are other posts as well.Things are not as clear-cut as you think. What I posted is true and verified, by me and others. It is possible that if Live is not installed, you can play the initial free download. However, if you want DLC, you must have Live installed, so it is possible that your quote is correct in that situation. If you don't get the "Unable to connect to Live" popup and are able to see more than 4 aerocahes (or so) and you don't have the woman yapping at you about how to find your first aerocache, then you are connected to the Flight servers though Live. Simply go to MS firewall and deny outgoing access to the executable and then run Flight. Then come back and post what you see.

Read my reply there then. I must be doing something wrong then, because I've had no problems whatsoever! Of course I'm simply returning to my previous "Free Flight" and nothing else...Note that I've said nothing about having or not having LIVE installed, only that it's not necessary for you to "Connect to LIVE" in order to use Flight in solo mode. Obviously with either no connection to LIVE or in the case of the servers being offline, one is limited to solo flying!

I still have all my DLC (all 8 main island, and aircraft) when I start Flight when I'm not connected to the Internet, All I don't have are the aerocaches and multi-player.

Exactly. If you have aerocaches, you are on-line and connected to the Flight servers. This is no big deal, however, you still have to wait a few seconds for Flight to try and connect before it gives up and displays a popup, which you have to click away. Live should just have a checkbox to play off-line and not even try to connect.

Odd that, because I've sure never seen any "popup, which (I) have top click away." There is a slightly longer delay (maybe 5 seconds), then I'm back in the sim... :(

Hello BillI can see that you are captivated with MS Flight! at the moment, but is there any chance you could put your Eaglesoft hat back on and sort out my Fadec. :(
So one could reason there will be a real weather expansion offered by MS. Among other things. A stretch, but I hope I'm not nickel and dimed to death to have a rounded sim. Like I was nickel and dimed to get FSX where it is for me now...My above comments are based on unfounded, uneducated assumptions fed by the rumor mill.
Why would they add real weather for a few islands in the middle of the pacific ocean, doesnt make sense does it. An option to setup your prefs would be fine.

HelloWhy not, they do have weather patterns in Hawaii, when it rains on one island it does not automatically follow that every island gets wet.

The state of Hawaii is bigger than many people think. The eight main Hawaiian islands are over 350 nautical miles in length. In land mass, Hawaii is actually larger than three US states:47 Hawaii 6,423 Square Miles48 Connecticut 4,845 49 Delaware 1,954 50 Rhode Island 1,045One of the first things I how they add to Flight would be Real World Weather (right after ATC and AI).
