Importing files into .PAK

Featured Replies

Well, not cracked XLive.. more like memory patching (original file not modified on the disk).Game loader can be made to handle this process automatically during launch -> no corrupted installation error.I know what to do and where, I just don't know how to do it in ASM.. or on the contrary, I could just write launcher in C# and .NET.PAK extraction is simple, just add .zip to end of it and unpack, then you get a nice set of core game files. After file add/remove I pack it back, but not using WinRAR.For this task I use much older zip program, Info-Zip.Once .pak file is created I just copy it to FS dir.Launch Flight, do quick mempatch.. and run program till main menu screen.Once showed up, we must wait for file verification completion (it takes about 10-20 seconds after load).Model files can be viewed directly or unpacked by regular means, just change model type from 0x37h to 0x26h (hexxedit or someth.)Packing them is harder.. as for now I haven't yet discovered proper method for doing so, but I have a clue what it might be.Too technical? :)
Nope not at all. I already dug through the exe myself my first day and saw there is something related to folding wings in it. I do the same sort of thing.. You're a software developer though if I'm not mistaken? You have a slight advantage at getting around some of the more common methods developers use to secure their assets. :)

Yes, but these things usually require also some RE skills as well. Infinite learning path, I like that.

I think Sako and styckx both have amazing skills, so please use them :)

That was me and it is locked. Is anyone else here modifying the game? Is anyone else here doing repaints? Is anyone else here opening the models? No.. Because it's locked. Sako cracked it Xbox Live and the game. Anyone can unzip a pak file, not nearly anyone but a select few with the tools can import and run the game after the fact.. Because it's locked. You want to make condescending remarks about someone try to remember their next next time and use it..
LOL, Styckx, you can get off your high horses, the guy I was talking about is me (this one flew right over your head) search my earlier post and you'll see that I was making these statements way before the game was released (or before you had your nose in it)....like I said, this guy (me) was not taken seriously...again......what else is new.... :drinks:

Hmm.. beside planes, which is the situation on the terrain files ?

Well, I tried to include some of FSX bgl files.. game started without errors. Could not however verify mod effect as this would have required to move far away from Hawaii..

:drinks: My apologies.. I should never have assumed.. Funny, it's only when you assume do you remember why you should never assume. :LMAO: I'm good for another few months now..

Im suprised the 3rd Party developers and most users with the technical skills haven't attempted to get past Flights security. If a program could be compiled to allow importation of aircraft from fsx into flight easily, along with global scenery, I guarantee 99% people here would start using flight. Wow, imagine loosing the restriction of Microsoft's proprietary DLC... We could even start importing ORBX, REX and other textures/addons if we wanted... If people can invent the jailbreak for iPhone's and hack into NASA, im sure we could come up with something for flight... Its just that its a niche market so there's not a huge push for hackers to do anything about it.Well done to Sako75 for attempting to make progress ;)

Yes the lack of Jail breaks is odd, but don;t expect the 3PD's to Jail Break, or they might end up in a real jail!

Yes but I wouldn't be suprised if they did it themselves and released it under an alias other than their company name... Would be beneficial to them. They get to develop for Flight. Fair enough we might be able to bypass the content limitations but someone actually needs to develop the content lol. I wonder if the FSX Globe was imported, then that scenary would still benefit from the flight engine

I think if tomorrow we were able to import FSX objects into MSF, then the 3PD's would be very happy as people could then even buy them for both FSX and MSF!I'm now stalking Sako's posts with two big eyes and crossed fingers!

Yeah, for sure! After all, why should "we" have to worry about EULAs and copyrights and seeing that the 3pds get any money for use of a product that it wasn't intended for. It's like we're owed this, what with Microsoft making it a closed system.I'm trying to understand the mentality behind busting down the door and stealing, er.. modding a game. I've not been able to grasp what some people want.

Hummm! if I remember correctly, there was a guy here on Avsim's forum who said, and I quote,.. " Everything is there, locked but there".....I can't think of his name right now....bummer, I'm sure he was taking seriously..... :db:

Yes i remember someone said that . also i did notice alot of whats in it when i first got the beta build i dig it as far as i could and it makes me wonder ALOT on what the future holds for Flight .For the looks we have endless posible things as far as interacting with aircraft and ground traffic with a full render of the pilots you see in the aircraft . Like i mention again there is areas with details and hidden animations that tells me someone has plans to get us out of the plane and do more than just walk and run .

Interesting to see all this. The helicopters are static display objects at Hilo, I believe, and the gliders are static display objects at Dillingham but only during the Hawaii Photo Book mission. At least the models are used in the game... it would be nice if we could fly them some day.Hook

Guys, you have moved into the realm of cracking code and violatings Copyrights, IP, etc. This topic is now shut, and let's not bring that topic, or anything closely related, up again.
