iPad (3) is out!

Featured Replies

My iPad3 shipped this weekend from Shenzhen. Matter or fact, last UPS update was departure from Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong... Not that I'm tracking it or anything...Never owned an iPad, and didn't get the whole tablet thing until wife bought me a Kindle Fire. Decided to take the iPad plunge into the 3 when it was announced last week. Might be able to finally get rid of those leather Jepp binders (though I will definitely miss the smell).

So are charity shops soon going to be awash with old iPads as they are now with cassette & CD players? :(

Yup, on the shelf below the 8-track tapes and machines.

I would love getting it... Well, I would love to get one but here in Germany they´re freaking expensive. The new one will cost me on Apple´s website 599€ or $785. The iPad 2 with 3G and 16GB will cost arround 520€ or $682. And that´s just a bit too much for an schoolboy. :(

Best regards, Steffen

Honestly if I didn't need to buy an iPad 3 I would get an iPad 2. I still love my 2 and it works great with all apps.

I like your job! You need to buy it! :smile:I did get my dad´s old iPhone 3GS and it´s working great with iOS 5.1. I love it but I´d love to have something bigger for surfing while flying or being somewhere else.
Apple has caught on that there are many non-geeks out there, and they've designed things for them.
Yeah! My dad isn´t that much of a technic geek but he can use his iPhone 4 without any problems. I also do love their iOS for the easy use and its clarity.

Best regards, Steffen

Haha, it's already en route. By this Friday I will have 2 iPad 1s, 1 iPad 2, 1 iPad 3, 2 iPhone 3GSs, 1 iPhone 4 and one iPhone 4S... I't be nice if Apple gave developers discounts...

Must have been the most valuable aircraft in the skies... That 744 from VHHH to PANC...Actually, hopefully Apple is smart enough to split the US pre-order shipment across multiple aircraft/carriers...

Back in the 1970s, we had a need to transmit large amounts of digital data across the country. It didn't have to be real-time, but some guys at work looked at various options. At that time, they determined that the highest bandwidth system was a 747 loaded with magnetic tape.

LolThe iPhone has many things that for me, a long time iOS user (or "iPhone OS" as it was called) are face palmish.1. When you set an alarm in the Clock app, your iOS device MUST be on for it to ring, or else it won't ring at all. Come on, Apple! My old 3 year old Motorola POS could turn on automatically for the alarm. This one is ridiculous for a phone that is dubbed "Smartest phone" or whatever.2. Multitasking bar. This is the most frustrating POC in the OS! Every time you close an app, you have to double tape the home button and fully close the app, or else it will continue to run in the background and waste battery (or in some cases, apps like Facebook that update every 5 minutes) waste data!!! I have a frikken 200MB data limit and I've already gone past it because of this stupid feature.3. The YouTube app SUCKS. You can't reply to comments, and account management sucks.Well that's all I can think of right now, but trust me, there are a lot of issues.

Yeah, that´s very annoying. And think of someone who doesn´t know that for a long time and then he wonders where all his energy went...

So, the alarm clock (your iPhone) has to be on for the alarm to ring? Isn't this normally the way all alarm clocks work? I mean, if I unplug my regular alarm clock (in my bedroom) from the wall, I wouldn't expect it to ring either.I never turn my iPhone off, since it is also my only phone (goodbye, landline), so I guess that's why this is never an issue for me.
