March 11, 201214 yr Scanned the forum fairly quickly, didn't see this topic - my apologies if I've missed it!Helicopters in Flight - while I would love to see them offered as DLC, do you think it makes sense with their new business model to offer them? Flight was/is being marketed as a way to "ease in" to flight simulation/gaming - do helicopters fit? I recently set a new challenge for myself to master helicopters in FS9 - while I can now maintain hover in an area the size of a parking ramp for almost a minute (self sarcasm meant), it is a difficult task. I'm a glutton for punishment, so I'm enjoying the challenge...Can helicopters be made accessible the same way the Icon has been? Can Microsoft simplify the act of successfully flying a helicopter (hover, takeoff, stable cruise, and landing) into something a majority of people can accomplish? Is there enough interest in flying helicopters to make this economically viable for Microsoft to offer?Please - positive AND negative feedback/experiences welcome as to "yes I would love to fly choppers in Flight" or "choppers are an abomination and I would never pay to try to fly one". I just would like to get an idea of the actual interest in buying helicopter DLC if it's made available.
March 11, 201214 yr Helicopters are coming and the question is when. In on of the tidbits of info displayed when loading a flight in MS Flight there is a reference to some aerocaches only be accessable with a helicopter. There are many simmers , myself included that are awaiting the arrival of chopper DLC. It's only a matter of time.BTW, keep practicing in FS9 and when you master the chopper it's gonna open a whole new flight experience for you.

March 11, 201214 yr Anybody else thought that the Kayak SAR mission was probably supposed to be a helicopter rather than the Icon? We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... March 11, 201214 yr Anybody else thought that the Kayak SAR mission was probably supposed to be a helicopter rather than the Icon?Did not cross my mind when I flew it last night but would certainly be a good mission to fly a helicopter in. When they add a chopper, I will have to refly that one again with it. Don B

I am sure that they will release one but when they release it is the real question....
March 11, 201214 yr I found the helicopters in Jane's Longbow series quite easy to fly, although I never got as good at holding a hover position as I'd have liked. In FSX I'm currently flying Dodosim's 206 Jetranger, and it's good, but difficult. I especially like how they've got a good startup and shutdown sequence, and they maintain wear and maintenance info on the bird. They even charge you for fuel, which is something I was doing "manually" in FSX.Helos don't have to be near impossible to fly if the controls are done properly, and by "properly" I don't mean like FSX does them. Continuous pressure on a self-centering joystick is not how one flies a helicopter. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

Got many, many hours of enjoyment out of that one. And the manuals, wow. Don B
March 11, 201214 yr "Take on Helicopters" does a pretty good job of making their flight dynamics semi-realistic, without making them nearly impossible to fly. DCS's "Black Shark" is VERY well done, but the Ka-50 has dual main rotors, which makes the real aircraft more stable.Here's another Flight helicopter clue: ~ Arwen ~ Home Airfield: KHIE
March 11, 201214 yr It will have to contend with Take on Helicopters if they put choppers in Flight, but I daresay they will give it a whirl (geddit?)Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
March 11, 201214 yr This helicopter is a must for Hawaii. Its like the biggest no-brainer, ever. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... March 11, 201214 yr Author BTW, keep practicing in FS9 and when you master the chopper it's gonna open a whole new flight experience for youThanks! I'm really enjoying it - been looking at Hoversim for some pointers. My biggest problem - other than a steady sustainable hover - is slowing down after cruise to either hover or land.

Hilo has Blackhawks parked there in that exact location in real life. Brandon Filer
March 11, 201214 yr This helicopter is a must for Hawaii. Its like the biggest no-brainer, ever. Agreed! I just hope that the first helicopter from MS isn't the 206, LOL. Give us a 407 or an AS350 since it's for Alaska. Just thinking about using a heli would give new life to Hawaii even. Best, Michael KDFW
