March 14, 201214 yr Including this first "no-cockpit" plane can be twofold....On the one side it opens FLIGHT to those who don't really care about the bells and whistles of managing the systems on the aircraft, but wouldrather prefer to fly and enjoy the scenery, the sounds, the rather improved graphics and even reach for some aerocaches easily accessibleto, int this case, a P-51...On the other side, MS may be testing the representatitivity of the various classes of FLIGHT users... Should there be a lot buying this sortof models, FLIGHT may evolve accordingly, should this be a marginal number of customers, maybe we tend to get more sphisticated airshipsin the future...Just my thoughts, of course! That last point is my worry as well, I had already said there is no way I will purchase a plane, even if it is a P51 which is an aircraft I just love - that came in exterior view only , that and I suspect they are " testing the waters" on this concept, and if popular more undoubtedly will come , I mean it has to be a lot easier. Exterior only is too arcadish for this serious somewhat hard core flight simmer! Then here lately, I see the thread that shows you can get an inside the cockpit view looking out at the world, albeit a non working and dark one, by moving the eyepoint back. Once I saw that, I became very tempted again, especially after seeing this video - but the other part of me, does not want to encourage MS to produce more of these , for the most part, exterior only aircraft... Now I am torn. Don B

Yeah, it sucks, because I really want the Mustang, but I will not let them think I like what they've done here.If there's going to only be one version of the plane offered, it must be the full version.
March 14, 201214 yr Moderator That is precisely what MSGS is doing with the "external model" only P51. It is a marketing test, nothing more-nor-less. It was suggested that a more definitve test would have been to offer both versions at release time, then see which of the two versions sold more......but that idea was not accepted, unfortunately. When shifting the eyepoint backwards, what you are "seeing" is the cockpit of the exterior model, which is of course nothing but a low resolution "decal" of the panel. March 14, 201214 yr I made the mistake of buying the P51 not knowing it didn't have a cockpit. It's a great plane and even fun to fly sometimes from the chase view, but it upsets me that I voted with my $$ saying this type of thing is ok. I wish there was someway I could "unbuy" it so MS doesn't think this is what people want.I hope they release the full deluxe P51 (why not, they're halfway there already by having the outside done) and let us people that bought the regular one get it for an 'upgrade' price. But I'm not holding my breath.

Then I remembered the other reason I was not buying it besides the fact I refuse to fly in exterior view only, this would send the message that I was willing to purchase an aircraft with no working cockpit. So as tempted as I am, I am witholding my dollars on this one. Don B
March 14, 201214 yr That plane deserves urgently a cockpit then she can seriously take off both from the runway and in the number of purchased DLC.
March 14, 201214 yr What are these folks at MS thinking, making a plane with no cockpit, it may be a game not a simulator but planes are flown inside a cockpit for crying out loud.Very nice job on that video. I do not teach video making but do my own and I can see you have put a lot of thought and work into the transitions and sound overlay. Good job! March 14, 201214 yr That is just pretty sick... EXCELLENT Job. :) I'd like to see it with the normal in game sounds of aircraft since, well, I don't own that one. :P Randy
