March 25, 201214 yr Author Moderator And really really nice if it were able to be used on the secondary monitor whilst flying in full screen mode. Yeah I know that is a limitation imposed by the Flight program itself - just wishful thinking, as I much prefer , and will continue, to fly in full screen mode. Little better performance, and no obtrusive task and title bars to take away from the display.BTW, removing the 2nd video port entry from the Flight.cfg did not prevent Flight from locking out the 2nd display unfortunately. It was a good idea that sadly proved to be unsuccessful... Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
March 25, 201214 yr I think a moving dot would be better than a moving plane that always points in the wrong direction. Still, this is working well for me in window mode. I'd buy the charts if they were to list them as compatible with the Flight version of GSMaps at their site. As of yesterday they did not. Don't want to buy that and have it not work, even though the price is quite low.
March 26, 201214 yr That sounds like a connectivity problem. Close GMap then relaunch it and Connect again. It should now work properly. I had the same thing occur late yesterday afternoon (Icon not following actual a/c heading), and that solved it for me!I've disconnected and reconnected Gmap multiple times, closed and restarted both Gmap and Flight multiple times, and rebooted.Gmap tracks my position perfectly, but the aircraft icon is always pointed a bit right of due north.

March 26, 201214 yr Turns out the Nav data that you can purchase at FSWidgets WILL work in the Flight GSMap. $9.95. Shows frequencies, ILS, VOR, NDB, etc. and runway info
March 26, 201214 yr Am I understanding this right? If I buy their Gmaps for Android app, I could use my tablet as a moving map?
March 26, 201214 yr Well, technically this app is using disassembly techniques to read memory of another running program, and although I don't have the EULA in front of me, I would put good money on that being in breach of Flight's EULA.Mind you - Dammit, Jim, I'm an architect, not a lawyer!Personally I can't see the difference between this and the picking apart of Flight's data files and aircraft formats (which appear to be compiled with a $16,000 piece of software :shok: - not gMax any more!) - and that thread got slapped before we had a consensus on what the format was.Might have had something to do with some rather rash alteration of said data files, though.Screen shots are one thing - you're not reading memory, you're reading the screen buffer. Different thing - write back to the screen buffer and you'll get a mess, write back to an active program and you get mods. If you can read it you can write it - that's what the previous thread proved.Until there is an SDK I think it's prudent to play it cool on apps that skirt legality like this.

You'd better SHUT OFF YOUR virus SCANNER then, because it does the same thing.
March 26, 201214 yr but the aircraft icon is always pointed a bit right of due north.I also have exactly this problem! March 26, 201214 yr Author Moderator Am I understanding this right? If I buy their Gmaps for Android app, I could use my tablet as a moving map?No, that won't work. Remember that the Android App relies on the little module that connects to FSX via SimConnect? Since Flight doesn't have SimConnect, the module can't work...I suspect that it won't be long before Fermin & Friends have another program that will read the lat/lon coordinates and send them to iPhone and Android versions too though... :Thinking:I throughly enjoy using GMap on my Android tablet in FSX, so I'm delighted to have this new freeware program that provides a similar display, albeit only on my second monitor. I'll buy their Android app in a heartbeat if they update it for compatibility with the Flight version of Gmap. I guess I need to send them some feedback.

I typed iPhone when I meant to type iPad. I think I need to get my iBrain and iGlasses checked! :LMAO:I enjoy GMap on my Android Tablet's 11.5" screen, but couldn't imagine trying to use it on a tiny 2.5" screen...I doubt it would take much, since they're already reading the lat/long to display it in Gmap itself. I need something to justify my purchase of the Android Tablet after all! Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
March 29, 201214 yr I'm missing something - I went to the FSWidgets and search for GMAP and found GMap for Android, iGMap for iPhone, IPad, and Mac - what am I looking for?
