Hi all,Roughly estimated, how much more frames will an overclocking of my i5 2500k give to 4,2 ghz?Is a slight overclocking (to max 4,2 -4,3 ghz) worth the effort?My computer:M/B: Gigabyte Z68X-UD3P-B3.RAM: DDR3 Corsair 8GB.G/C: MSI gtx 560Ti - 2GB.O/S: Win7 Home PremiumThanks,Christos

The performance jump will be notable. You will get about 5-8FPS higher in all situations.

Correct. FSX is CPU intensive so more GHz, more FPS. You'll need to find the balance between stability and performance though. Good luck.

Sandy bridge stability at 4.2GHz is a non-issue. Most chips can go way past that.

Just ringing in on what Ken said, you could likely push that 2500K to 4.8-5GHZ with proper cooling and a large ego. :(

Yeah, I have mine working az 4,5 GHz and I don´t wanna miss that.

I got my 2600K up at 4.8GHz with no problems at all!

This one is Specific to ASUS bios, but others can be found....http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/overclocking/39184-p67-sandy-bridge-overclocking-guide-beginners.html

Diego,Change the "Current CPU Frequency" to 100.00 x 45 Mhz if you want an overclock to 4.5 Ghz. All you are doing is raising the multipliers. eg: 33 = 3.3 Ghz, 34 = 3.4 Ghz... and so on. Make sure you have proper cooling, if not... let the Fire Department know you are doing some serious overclocking :DRegards,Sanjin

Well I have a Hyper 212 + with thermal paste and everything. I don't know though if there is anything else I need to change before hitting apply, such as turning off DRAM or whatever.

Just google around for sandy bridge oc guides using msi motherboard

I also have the 212+, I am running at 4.5Ghz, highest temps I've seen under load are 68C on Core3 for some reason its always that core. Idle temps are 30-35C, I have an Asus motherboard and their BIOS, so all I did was just change the multipliers to 45, and everything has been fine. But just to be on the safe side, I recommend you ask around some more and read up on some guides for these particular processors.Regards,Sanjin

For an initial overclocking to max 4,2 ghz do I need a good cooler?I don't know what cooler I have installed but it is the standard one that goes with the computer. Also can anybody assist me in finding a threat about overclocking my i5 2500k in connection with my motherboard (Gigabyte Z68X-UD3P-B3)?Thanks,Christos
