March 25, 201214 yr Will RAAS (Runway Awareness and Advisory System) be installed in PMDG 777? I would like it for situational awareness and I think it is not difficult or time-consuming to model this system. Some airlines installed it in their 777 as a option. Since we are flying without the help of F/O, situational awareness tools can be very useful. :( David Chen
March 25, 201214 yr Not difficult? Habe you ever programmed a RAAS for FSX? I can imagine that it is very, very difficult, maybe even impossible. John Rubens

March 25, 201214 yr IT is very difficult to make RAAS for FSX, but its difficult to make 777 for FSX too, and they are making it right now. If they can find solution to build RAAS, why not, if its impossible, its not a big deal. Lj. March 25, 201214 yr If its not that difficult, why don't you do it yourself and make a fortune by licensing other developers? Name available upon request
April 10, 201313 yr That's not PMDG's RAAS. it's 3pd and it's charged additionally. Lj. Prodanovic
April 10, 201313 yr That's not PMDG's RAAS. it's 3pd and it's charged additionally. Just think of it this way...if you buy it, not only will you have a professional grade RAAS system for your 777, but for every other plane you have...including your little ultralight if you wish. It's worth the money. Besides, I can pretty much assume that I speak for 99% of the members here when I say that I don't want to have to wait for several additional months for release so PMDG can design a RAAS system...especially considering the payware and freeware choices already available. I was sold. As Matt said the full product works with all aircrafts.
April 10, 201313 yr There is also freeware FsRAAS V2.0, it works quite nicely with any aircraft. http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=&Name=RAAS&FileName=&Author=&CatID=root and its free. Atleast try it ^_^ Mikael Leinonen
April 11, 201313 yr I've had the FS2Crew one for several months now and it's very nice, extremely accurate, and highly customizable via in-sim menu. And it's active on all aircraft is I want it. It sounds exactly like the real thing. One of the few spontaneous purchases I made that I didn't regret a few hours later. Bob Donovan - KBOS

Since we are flying without the help of F/O, situational awareness tools can be very useful. :( Please don't tell us what is and is not difficult or time consuming to do. You really have no idea of of the complexities involved in a product like this. RAAS is most definitely not just about having a couple simple pieces of data and logic - there's a very sophisticated set of rules that are used to determine when the callouts play etc. It's probably most similar to TCAS in terms of how it works and if you know anything about how TCAS actually functions algorithmically, you'd know that it isn't simple by any means. It's unlikely RAAS will be in the initial release of the airplane - it's something we intend to look at post-release along with other features like the EFB etc. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
April 12, 201313 yr I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that FS2Crew had a RAAS. I bought the NGX voice package from them, but I never realized they had RAAS, until I saw it on one of the video lessons in Angle of Attack. I've been using RASS on my NGX, and it works great,a nd I look forward to using it on my 777X.
