Hi there, after i installed this update, my xbox controller for windows stoped working with this game, anyone had this issue? if yes how can i solve it, i tried to unistall the game then use it without the update but it still doesnot map the controller anymore.

Try going into options and reselecting the 360 controller- worked for me and MS suggested that more or less after the update

i7-920@3360, Asus P6T Deluxe, 6gb Corsair 1600 ram,

MSI GTX460, PC Power+Cooling 610wt psu, etc.

Thanks for the update on that.

Happy Flying,

Tried but it didnot solved

I have another pc here which i had not instaled the update yet, there the xbox controler works fine it, it appers in the control selection screen as "xbox 360 controller" and it show the buttons as xbox buttons (X, Y, A, B etc) , in my main computer, which is now updated, it shows "controller (xbox 360 controller)" and map the buttons as "button 01, button 02, etc..."

I really would like my controller working again...

When you installed the update, it asked if you wanted to update the controls. If you refused the control update, it could cause problems. There are a few differences between the old control file and the new one.

Is this update going to undo all the changes I made to the standard.xml?

It will undo some of them, but not all. Keep a copy of your old standard.xml file so you can compare. A lot of my custom switch assignments were kept.

I have to say, that is one of the nice things with this current ecosystem for Flight - how quickly they can push out an update.

These were known back in January during beta testing. Not sure how quickly that is?

Well, i solved my problem, and i will share here how i done:

I deleted the controler from the device manager and asked for it delete drivers as well

I downloaded the controller driver at http://download.microsoft.com/download/6/9/4/69446ACF-E625-4CCF-8F56-58B589934CD3/Xbox360_64Eng.exe and reinstaled it.

After the reboot, the game re-recognized the xbox controler.

Hope it works for who have same problem

Users can now override settings in Flight.cfg by setting Custom=1 under section [Configuration]

Hey gang,

Undoubtedly a dumb question on my part - what exactly is the purpose in this - does this mean any change made to the Flight.cfg is not retained say after exiting the program and then launching again later? So if one wants to change anything in that file at all, first they should change the Custom to 1? And then any changes are permanent, so before this update they were not?

Upon reflection of what I just typed, I guess that is obvious just trying to make sure I understand clearly what this is for.

Thanks,

Don B

Custom=1 means you can tweak graphics settings under [Configuration] in Flight.cfg

(It was not working as intended)

Time, is the one thing no one can buy.

Custom=1 means it will ignore the values for the graphics options that show up in the UI (and in [Configuration]) such as ShadowQuality, Sharpness, etc. It will then read directly from the lower level graphics settings in the config allowing you to hand tweak your settings beyond the built in settings. The lower level settings are most of the values you will find in [scenery], [Graphics], [Autogen], [Terrain], [Weather]

Don,

I am now using Custom = 1 setting. I had no idea that prior to this update, Flight didn't really "let" my nVidia inspector to fully override any settings. I know this because yesterday, after the update, and after setting Custom = 1 in my Flight.CFG, inspector now properly overrides Flight settings.

Also, once you select Custom = 1, when you go to graphic settings inside Flight menu, all features will be grayed out, informing you that you are overriding them by using other software or config tweaks.

Flight now looks much better and more crisp with true 8xMS Antialiasing and 16x Anisotropic filtering.

Hope this helps out a bit.

Cheers

Ah that is what I did not understand, so it applies to overriding the graphics options in the menu.

Ramon, Stonelance, Eevun - thanks very much for this info!

Eevun thanks for the info on Nvidia Inspector as well, as of yet I have not tried it for my graphics settings in the card's driver, good to know that.

Thanks guys,

Don B
