May 10, 201214 yr Moderator I think that for one of my next projects, I'm going to report all distances and speeds in furlongs... NB: for those who don't know, 5 furlongs = 1.0058 km, 8 furlongs = 1 statute mile Fr. May 10, 201214 yr Moderator And all gauges labelled in a WINGDINGS font. Between you, Larry and myself, that would be one wicked aircraft to pilot! :LMAO: Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
May 10, 201214 yr We will go metric when they stop serving beer by the pint." IIRC the UK secured an exemption which means we can continue to have beer in pints and speed limits in mph. Is there no end to our deviousness? Give people power to really test their personality.
May 10, 201214 yr Distances in furlongs, speed in furlongs per fortnight. Altitude in decachains, barometer in hectopascals. Hook I think you made a mistake there, in aviation the barometer is already read out in hectopascals (at least in Rightpondia), which are just millibars dressed up and made to long presentable. How about we switch to inches of something-other-than-mercury? Of course altitude should be given in fathoms, to match nautical depth charts. Plane measurements should be in cubits, or digits and palms for the smaller parts. Fuel should be loaded in bushels. John-Alan Pascoe
May 10, 201214 yr I think you made a mistake there, in aviation the barometer is already read out in hectopascals I know. I was making a point. :D How about we switch to inches of something-other-than-mercury? Feet of water. That's fairly standard. Maybe too standard. Hook Larry Hookins Oh!
