April 13, 201214 yr Al....you didn't take a screen shot of the engine dials in the EVO....That right there is the biggest difference. I like looking at those old Engine Dials... :Nerd: Cheers Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
April 13, 201214 yr Yeah, but since it was a comparison of relative similarities, it seemed fairer to show something which both of them have so that a direct modeling and texture treatment comparison could be made. The PMDG wins that particular round. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
April 14, 201214 yr If I'm not mistaken, feelThere had a sale or it is still on where this PIC737 is reduced.Check out the Bargains Forum. Worth checking out for the guys interested indeed. I was a day1 buyer on the Evo and was ok, but not super happy with the 'deluxe' price. Hence my comment on that one. If one can get her on the sales now, even better. Great and informative posts from Alan on the reviews. I've already mentioned the fair and open Avsim review from Aaron, so there's a lot of information available.
April 14, 201214 yr Yup, I skipped the 'deluxe' version and got the standard one. Paying for additional repaints seemed all a bit too Ariane for my tastes. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

Al Bought this bird primarilly due to your testimonly Al....love it. I have NGX, IflyNG, CS737, they all have their pluses and minuses. Wilco Evo flies great and looks plenty good for my taste. Glad I took the plunge. Cheers, Pete Pete Solov - Lake in the Hills 3CK and Schaumburg Regional 06CProud AOPA Member - PPL 2001Real World Piper Cherokee Pilot

April 14, 201214 yr I'm happy I bought the 737 Evo. I would own the NGX as well but just don't care for the glass cockpit, HGS, or the $100 price since the only one I really want is the 700. The Evo's ultra-clean, plastic looking liveries give the impression that the models are substandard, however I installed a beautiful 3rd party Southwest repaint which shows how great the aircraft models actually look. I haven't seen the paint kit but maybe it just needs better shading, more detail, and weathered layers. My only real complaint is the hard colors they chose to use for red, black and white switches, knobs, and the yokes giving them a cartoonish appearance. This really ought to have been rectified already. I'd do it myself if I had a paint program. (hint hint) Bud Estrada

April 14, 201214 yr I'm looking at buying the Classic, but don't know if I should do the old one - which is half off, or the EVO. I've heard that the cabin is the same length on all the variants with the EVO, and that the fans don't spin. Any thoughts? Thanks, Adlai
April 14, 201214 yr The 1.2 update gave us spinning fans. I've never compared the cabin sizes to be honest, but the 3D VC of the Evo looks way better to me than the flat one of the old version. The colours may not be everbody's darling, but the Evo gives you the native FSX model, while the old one is stuck to the portover downsides. Isn't the Evo currently discounted somewhere?

April 14, 201214 yr I'm looking at buying the Classic, but don't know if I should do the old one - which is half off, or the EVO. I've heard that the cabin is the same length on all the variants with the EVO, and that the fans don't spin. Any thoughts? As far as flying and systems go, the older one is not bad, one of the better FS add-ons in fact, but the 737 model is rather poor, and by that I don't mean it has low polygons, I mean it is actually a rather poor representation of a 737 shape-wise. The other issue is that it was a port over to FSX rather than being a model built using the FSX SDK, so it can suffer a bit where frame rates are concerned and can also have one or two other issues, although if I am honest, I never had any of those issues myself. Nevertheless, the EVO version addressed these issues, with a new FSX-native model which does actually look like a 737 and apart from the textures that come with it being in need with a little scuffing up (not a problem for repainters), it is an excellent rendition of a 737. And it inherited all of the excellent system modeling of the older one, which was then also enhanced a bit too. Thus if you want my opinion, I'd say the EVO one is the one to go for. Not to be confused with the older FS9 portover version, there are in fact two EVO versions available, a standard one, and a deluxe one, the deluxe one offering more paint jobs - save your money and get the standard one, then get some repaints off Avsim or make your own.
