Airlines that fly the -200LR variant

Featured Replies

Funny... Singapore Airlines still fly Airbus for their longest flights... i.e. Singapore to Newark. I wonder why don't they purchase B777 LR's to do that knowing that they phased out all other Airbus 340's... I'd like to try that flight on the 777 LR.

The 777-200LR wasn't available when they needed the range, only the A340-500 was. So it is more cost effective for now to keep the A345 on that route. I'm also led to believe that they will axe the route when the A345 is retired from their fleet.

Thanks

Why EWR and not JFK?

Why EWR and not JFK?

SQ used to operate EWR-AMS-SIN before changing this to a non-stop to SIN from EWR. It's a legacy thing mainly, plus there's a possibility by introducing the non-stop from JFK, it could hurt the revenue streams they made out of JFK.

The only change was the timings. The flight from AMS used to arrive in the morning then sit idle all day until the return to AMS-SIN in the evening. Now the flight arrives from SIN at 5pm roughly, and goes out 6 hours later at 11pm.

It's possible they had trouble getting hold of suitable arrival slots into JFK when they needed them. The departure wouldn't have been an issue as I'm fairly certain JFK isn't slot restrained after around 1030pm.

Thanks

I wish 3rd parties made the following sceneries for FSX:

- Dubai (OMDB)

- Abu Dhabi (OMAA)

- Newark (KEWR)

- Portland (KPDX)

- Bucharest (LROP)

My First flight would definitely be CYYZ - CYVR on air canada. Reason being I can use the same numbers used by the really pilots in the Just planes AC77L video. I was amazed at the time spent covering the preflight phase of the video. All the numbers, from weights CG, expected fuel burn V speeds, Engine thrust settings...the pilots covered everything. And thanks to them I can find out just how accurate my PMDG 77L is

Indeed that video is more than inspiring, and really covers it all!

Even though its an LR I'll fly it on VATSIM as a regular 772 since that's what AA has and size wise its close enough. My first route will probably be ORD-EDDF/M. After that it will be regular Atlantic and some domestic hops.

I will treat it the same as a regular 200 that way i can choose more destinations..

Me too, and I hope there will be a United Airlines repaint available, so United flights to Hawaii can be simulated.

As overall distance Seattle is a shorter route (approx 13-14 hours). Operated by 777-300ER

Nope, UAE229 & UAE230 are operated by the 77L :)

As of today you are correct. They started the route with the 77W though.

Ah right ok! Just seen that you can get the full route from KSEA-OMDB, unlike from KLAX it cuts of once you get to Europe. I got a Polar OMDB-KLAX from a Friend at Emirates but looks like it's so long with all the steps etc VATSIM doesn't take it..

I already got all my FP's ready for OMDB-YSSY,YBBN,NZAA! Never really been down that side of the world on the Sim so will be good to "Get away from Europe" ha!

Just wondering where you got that? I have a few real world plans exactly like that from a friend at Emirates.

Hello Luke,

You've maybe heard me talking to planes from a big building based on Slough Intl ;). Fortunately this allows me to get any plan which routes through European airspace.
