Question for HAF 932 Owners

Featured Replies

I will soon be building a new computer. It looks like the Cooler Master HAF 932 seems to be a favorite for computer home builds. My only concern is that this case has no dust filters? How much of a dust magnet is the case and is this something that I really should be concerned about?

To clean the dust accumulation, would I simply vacuum the exterior of the fans…or would I also have to vacuum the inside of the case also?

No, please do not vacuum your case or internal components. Most household vacuums can create static which is bad around sensitive electrical components.

You can get a computer/electronics vacuum but unless you use it often they can be expensive US$40+.

I personally move my case to the workbench in the garage or other area where I don't mind dust blowing out of the case then simply use compressed air. That works for almost all the dust and if you do it enough your case will remain happy and clean.

Sorry for double posting this thread. Hopefully, one of the forum moderators will delete the other post.

Just like John said, using compressed air the most effective way to remove dust trapped inside your case. I use a 150psi 13gal compressor and it will blast every last spec of dust in my case. Although, you do have to be mindful of the stream of air at high pressure because you could end up damaging components if you are not careful.

There are "anti static" vacuum attachments designed for electronic applications. I use it frequently with an anti static cuff. I have never had a problem. I'm more concerned about a 150psi blast of air blowing out a component. Canned air would seem a better option.

And make sure to hold the fan blades when cleaning them so that they don't rotate in the airflow. They don't like overspeeding at all.

Gee, this seems like a lot of work. Are there some other good cases out there that I wouldn't have to worry about this. Or do all of them have to be cleaned sooner or later?

Computer hardware needs airflow for cooling, and with moving air comes dust. Even if you had a case that had dust filters for every opening, you would still have to clean those.

I did not know this... Thanks for telling me.

I use a 932 and vacuum the front of the case about once a month and blow out the case every 6 months. The case has awesome airflow and as a result has a tendency to have a higher dust build-up.

More airflow = more dust and lower temps

Less airflow = less dust and higher temps

Just a matter of preference I think. IMHO, I will be using this case until it starts to fall apart, I love it!

That reminds me, I need to get into my HAF 932 and do some spring cleaning. I haven't found filters all that great in the past.
