April 20, 201214 yr I have the Turbine Duke but I was wondering if anybody had the B60 from Real Air. If so which one is better? I seem to get a right engine HIGH RPM non stop at start up even when I move the throttle from full forward to idle it doesn't change. I didn't know if I should purchase the B60 or just keep the Turbine Duke only. Josh Scholl
April 20, 201214 yr I have both aircraft and although similar, I enjoy flying both of them. The Piston version is great for smaller VFR type flying and I generally fly the Turbine Duke for IFR as it has much higher climb rate. The VCs are also different in each aircraft. VATSIM: P2 | I1
April 20, 201214 yr I got them both - hardly touch the piston version (I like to go fast)... plus the turbine has much better visuals than the piston. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
April 20, 201214 yr Have them both. I'm a piston guy but thought I might as well get the turbine since the package was reasonably priced. Didn't know if I'd fly it at all. Ended up flying the turbine most than the piston. They're both good, but the turbine version is just a touch more refined. As Ryan mentions, the turbine is faster. I'm not a speed demon, but I do appreciate climb rates for high flyers, and the turbine has that, but it also has the surprising advantage of being able to get into and out of smaller strips. As for the problem you're having, if you've tried all the usual things (no second throttle conflicts, properly calibrated, and if you're an FSUIPC user, check that FSX didn't re-take control of your, er, controls) I'd contact RealAir support. They've got a very good support rep. Scott
April 20, 201214 yr Author I just started using FSUIPC and I have selected profile specific yet It works initially but I close it out and re open it is returns to the config I used for a different set up. I am trying to learn how to set buttons on my yoke in FSUIPC so I don't have to deal with FS controls and axises, not quite figured it out yet though. Josh Scholl
April 20, 201214 yr Flying the B60 is more demanding then the Turbine one (although engine failures are not simulated as well). I like both, depending on what I'm looking for for the next flight. If I need to fly easy and fast I fly the Turbine, if I wish some more challenges I get the B60. Moreover the turbine lag looks to be a bit exagerated in FSX, sometimes I prefer the piston version because it is smoother although less powerful. LDS
April 20, 201214 yr I have them both and enjoy both, but if I'm in the mood for something louder, I fly the B60! Lots of fun. April 20, 201214 yr They are both OUTSTANDING. Get either one then upgrade later. You will not regret it! MSFS
April 20, 201214 yr I agree with Ryan, I too have both but fly mostly the turbine. They are both superb, but I mean, if you have two similar planes, why would you fly the one you least prefer? HowardMSI Mag B650 Tomahawk MB, Ryzen7-7800X3D CPU@5ghz, Arctic AIO II 360 cooler, Nvidia RTX4090 GPU, 32gb DDR5@6000Mhz, SSD/2Tb+SSD/500Gb+OS, Corsair 1000W PSU, LG Ultragear 48"4K, MFG Crosswinds, TQ6 Throttle, Fulcrum One YokeMy FlightSim YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@skyhigh776
April 20, 201214 yr He already said in his post that he already has the Turbine Duke. Silly me. Just read the headline. LOL MSFS
April 21, 201214 yr They are both superb, but I mean, if you have two similar planes, why would you fly the one you least prefer? I dunno Howard, preference is a funny and often complicated thing. Very NOT black/white. I fly the turbine more because it's unique, and is a great combination of high/fast, while still able to do small short strips and is a more refined simulation. But the B60, despite being the exact same airframe, is a very different airplane and I almost always prefer flying a complex piston, all other things being equal, because that's what I flew IRL. But again, all other things aren't equal. Thus I still enjoy flying the B60 fairly often, but fly the turbine more. I just started using FSUIPC and I have selected profile specific yet It works initially but I close it out and re open it is returns to the config I'm a relative FSUIPC novice, so I'll defer to others to help out here, but the one thing I know kept happening to me when I transitioned to fully controlling through FSUIPC was that somehow my config kept getting set back to allowing FSX to handle my controls, and I'd have FSUIPC and FSX conflicting. I quickly learned that when strange control anomolies occured I needed to be sure that FSX was not set to configure my controls. Good luck and hopefully someone more knowledgeable than I am can offer better assistance. Scott
April 21, 201214 yr I have to say that both aircraft are absolutely fantastic... I hesitated buying any of realair aircraft, and that was a big mistake. I bought the SF260 and then the B60, after that I did not even hesitate to buy the Turbine. Even then the B60 was one of the more immersive experiences I have ever had in FS. The tubine as well, to an even greater degree. I have this to say about them both. . The B60 is like an old loud muscle car.. and the turbine is like a newer supercar.. Both are fantastic in their own right. I would not hesitate in buying either one.. or even both... they are works of art, and work quite flawlessly.
April 21, 201214 yr I love to hear the engines on start up :diablo: HowardMSI Mag B650 Tomahawk MB, Ryzen7-7800X3D CPU@5ghz, Arctic AIO II 360 cooler, Nvidia RTX4090 GPU, 32gb DDR5@6000Mhz, SSD/2Tb+SSD/500Gb+OS, Corsair 1000W PSU, LG Ultragear 48"4K, MFG Crosswinds, TQ6 Throttle, Fulcrum One YokeMy FlightSim YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@skyhigh776
April 21, 201214 yr I have both too and I'm still flying the piston quite regularly. Be aware that her engine sounds are really loud, so not like the sonorous hum of the turbines. The turbine also has the better switch interaction in my eyes (left and right click, not the step through ways) and that little extra on the 'dirty' optics. However, the piston still is a nice plane to fly.
