April 21, 201214 yr Author If you really what to use fsx atc then use simroutes to get an fsx flight plan including SIDS and stars load it to fsx then load up your pmdg with your route. The only deveation is typically airport vors. Fsx act will vector you away then back. I use to use simroutes when I flew posky or default aircraft.. DJuan Carter. well i have made my acount on VATSIM, so i will start to ease myself into that now i think, i will observe for a very long time beofre fully deciding,i need to do a whole lot of reading and knowing HOW to observe first though!!! -ANDY GREENFlight Diary Account : http://flightdiary.net/SpeedBird7735 Hours experience in Grob 115, 30 minutes in Grob 102 10 Hours in Grob 109 PLUS SOLO! 23rd November 2013!
April 21, 201214 yr Congrats on taking a big step. If you are going to observe then send a message to the controller overseeing the area you are in. It let's then know you just want to listen in. DJuan Carter Ok I will do that, I know this is kind of going off topic, but, do I contact him/her through the infant chat to warn him, and: Do I go about it like I would be performing a flight, then park at remote stand, or get into contact with ATC saying I want to park on some grass or somthing… -ANDY GREENFlight Diary Account : http://flightdiary.net/SpeedBird7735 Hours experience in Grob 115, 30 minutes in Grob 102 10 Hours in Grob 109 PLUS SOLO! 23rd November 2013!
April 21, 201214 yr What I did when I started out was to pick an airport that was under a center controller but was not the main airport. An example I picked kdpa which was under Chicago center but not busy at all. What way I could listen in but not be in the way. You could also pick the airport you want but choose a general aviation gate. Just park and listen. Always spawn at a gate never on a taxiway or runway. Other then you should be good.. DJuan Carter
April 22, 201214 yr C'mon guys, is there really someone who use the ATC ? FSX ATC has been programmed by a lobotomized carbon unit, how can you deal with it ? I'd rather have full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy ! :LMAO: Fred. Frederic Steiner.

April 22, 201214 yr Commercial Member To answer your question, there are a couple of well-known ATC addons: One is called Radar Contact 4. Radar Contact 5 is apparently long-time in the works, but is not out yet. It costs quite a bit of money, but those who own it swear it is worth it. http://forum.avsim.net/forum/135-radar-contact-forum/ VOXatc. Another addon that costs a bit and sounds worth it. I have tried the demo and thought it pleasant but still lacking in something. http://forum.avsim.net/forum/229-voxatc-unofficial-support-forum/ I think there is another ATC addon, but I just can't think of it right now. What I do, is use ATC for pushback, taxi and takeoff and as soon as I switch to departure I don't contact them. Obviously this means I have to watch the traffic radar to avoid collissions, but once you're at the correct flight level for direction of travel there is very little risk of collission; so sit back and fly. Then when it comes time to descend, I check weather at destination because I fly using real-world weather, then ensure that my chosen runway on the flightplan is the most likely to be in use. In then start the descent using VNAV/LNAV and wait for the "nearest airport" to show my airport. Usually you'll see it pop up when you're around 40-50 miles away unless you're in an area of loads of airports, like Seattle or Los Angeles. Now I use the tower frequency to request a full stop landing and usually your choice of runway is correct. I then use ATC to taxi and park. April 22, 201214 yr If you use FSBuild or similar, it accurately tracks your flight plan, and if you load that in the FS menu, the ATC should know exactly where you are going and where you want to go. I also wait a little while to contact departure after taking off.
April 22, 201214 yr Don't use FSX ATC...that's the only way. I tried for a long time, but it's no fun. Run liveatc in the background. Adds some nice ambiance haha. Dave Swanson
