(Trying) To make the NGX MORE REALISTIC

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

So, last night i decided to make my operations in the NGX a lil More realistic, instead of doing the defualt thing when i programme my route on the FMC, and just putting Direct (Airport)

i decided to actully plan a flight with a good website which plans it for you ETC, and got all the waypoints

The route was

EGGP-EGSS (via the waypoints)

anyway, there i was, flying along, and i reached my first waypoint, NANTI(if my memory serves right), all very well,

but then ATC directs me Further East, meaning i hit the parralels to the other waypoints, but not actully "hit" them, and as for the STARS, they were just not being followed,

i was very dissapointed with this, and so i was doing some research this morning on the forums, and people were having the same probs, and reccomendations were that of IVAO and VATSIM, or payware products. I want neither IDEALLY, and would rather freeware, now, the people who had the same specs as me were answered with these, declined them, and then the topic went silent, no products mentioned, so...

Is there freeware that can route you through waypoints and SIDS/STARS or not? and if there is, a link would be appriciated, but furthermore, do any of the Virtual Captains from the NGX, or even PMDG workers reccomend what is best, even if the answer is Payware or online ATC

Thanks Guys

Andy

PLEASE NOTE,reasons why i do not want some of the options available

I do not want the Payware option becasue as of this second, i cannot justify the price IF there is freeware available

I do not want the Online option becuase i do not have the space or "Privacy" to be talkin away whenever feels right etc

Thanks For your Understanding

I use FSX ATC often too. The best solution I've found is to not contact ATC after the departure and once LNAV gets you safely onto the route. Fly the SID and finish it before bothering to contact ATC. Using LNAV, FSX ATC doesn't touch you, and don't bother with the heading vectors it'll give you once you're on the route until you start descending. I don't use STARS with default ATC and instead end up letting them vector me in, and once they give me ILS clearance, I re engage LNAV and just use the ILS approach (Modifying the route in the LEGS page of the CDU).

Hope this helps you out.

Kind of, i can see the logic behind it, and it's a good idea, but, i ideally need ATC... :Nerd: :vava:

What do you mean by not having the space to be talking away?

I hope you know that on VATSIM you have a push to talk button which you have to press if you want the controller to hear you (just as in real world) if you mean that.

Lets Just say i am one of the "Younger" Simmers....

Old enough to be in the position of knowing lots, but not old enough to get my own place etc

That's no problem. On VATSIM they also offer training courses in which they teach you how that all works. I've also started off with simming at 13 and did my first online flight with 15. If you are afraid of flyign online then don't worry, everyone makes mistakes and that's just normal.

And if you are able to fly a big aircraft like the NGX then you are also able to talk to ATC. It isn't as difficould as it seems on the first place ;)

I think the trouble is not the training, but rather the possible presence of other family members interfering in the communications.

One option to solve your problems is to add in the SID/STAR waypoints in your FS flight plan, that way the FS ATC will expect you to follow them. Still not going to be 100% realistic, but better than nothing. The freeware version of vRoute will allow you to do that easily for example.

You can also use text instead of voice. The best solution might be for you to listen to vatsim atc and respond via text. I am a controller in the houston artcc for vatsim and we don't mind new guys.

Stay away from lax and JFK if you are a new pilot though. A lot of action over there..

You can use the FS ATC and fly LNAV. The ATC will, if you´re not on course, often tell you to change the heading but you can just igrore that and you´ll be fine. That´s how I fly everytime and it´s prefect.

Best regards, Steffen

Not keen on that thought…

Hrrrrm, well, if you can use text…that could be a great thing! Because also, I don't really have a mic headphone set, sooo…

Ahh ok, do you have to sign on so many times per month?

No.

Well you account becomes inactive after couple months... but it is a two-click operation to get it back up.

C'mon guys, is there really someone who use the ATC ? FSX ATC has been programmed by a lobotomized carbon unit, how can you deal with it ?

I'm going to try VATSIM again, but...!

For ATC you can use FSX ATC.

I would make a flight plan without SID or STAR and then save this as your NGX route. Then add your SID into the flight plan and save that as a FSX flight plan. Load the plan in FSX. During your preflight load your NGX flight plan then choose the same SID. What happens is now FSX knows your SID laterally, but it won't know your altitdue restrictions. The program usually drops you to "Resume own navigation" pretty fast, but it will continue to give you altitude restrictions. I don't have a work around for that..

Once I'm happliy away from the airport, I just request flight following as some ATC is better than none at all.

As for free flight planners, a Google search will bring up several.

Hope this has helped.

SSSOOORRRRYYY!!!! HAHAHAHAHAAAA!!! untill now i have been able to deal with it, becuase i was just using the "Direct AIRPORT" method, but now i want to be more "PRO" with it, and so now it has become annoying....

Hrm thank you, i would rather have it all from the start if you get what i mean, and still follow IFR etc...

BUT THANKS ANYWAY!

If you really what to use fsx atc then use simroutes to get an fsx flight plan including SIDS and stars load it to fsx then load up your pmdg with your route. The only deveation is typically airport vors. Fsx act will vector you away then back. I use to use simroutes when I flew posky or default aircraft..
