April 27, 201214 yr 5 or 6 year old Saitek x45 here. It was getting "scrapey" as someone mentioned earlier but a little graphite on the shaft and it's good to go.
April 28, 201214 yr Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X.......A great stick combo.......Very precise and smooth.....I use it with the seperated stick and throttle mode....It was only about 30 quid when I bought it from Amazon.....Not sure of the current price though........Happy flying.
April 29, 201214 yr Author Hi everyone. Thanks for the input. I decided to go with the Logitech Pro Extreme from Amazon. I do have a RC simulator USB controller. I have ClearView RC flight simulator. I never thought of trying that. I'll give it a try and see if I can use that until the stick shows up. Mike
April 29, 201214 yr I use a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and use the twist to look left and right instead of the hatswitch And a Logitech Driving Force Pro where from i use the pedals for rudder and my steering wheel for the elevator trim (in FSX) , dont have an idea how to setup the elevator trim as an axis in Flight. Being able to use my pedals for the rudder makes it a lot more fun , eventhough i hope to replace my pedals with a triple pedal set (clutch, brake, throttle) so i can use the clutch and the throttle for rudder and the brake well for the brake.
April 30, 201214 yr I have, over the years, used almost every device you could use - except rudder pedals. I recently acquired a set (CH Pro) and am adjusting- slowly. The Logitech 3D Pro, by the way, is and has been for several years, a great input device. After installing the rudder pedals, I began experiencing sudden, violent, and unexplained deviations from course - many straight down. I found that Flight had assigned duplicate functions to my yoke (CH Eclipse) and to the pedals. This occurred some time after the rudder pedal installation. After clearing all the duplicate entries (from options), I have had smooth flying. This did not happen in FSX or XP10. Is someone messing with my settings? John Wingold
April 30, 201214 yr Flight seems to just randomly assign things to various buttons and axis controls whenever you connect a new device, and it will duplicate things, leading to serious problems for flight-control axis settings. The first thing you should do after connecting a new controller is go into the Flight settings menu and delete every assignment on the new controller. Then, configure it yourself in a logical and sane manner.
April 30, 201214 yr The pedals do seem to get a lot of odd assignments. I don't have any buttons on my pedals, and I don't think anyone else does either, but they still get assigned functions. If you've downloaded a custom profile into your CH yoke and pedals from the CH Control Manager, this may have reset the device that Flight sees and you've ended up with a totally new device with default settings. This would explain assignments changing. Another thing that may change assignments would be a Flight update. Obviously if you've hit the "default" button on the options page you'll get assignments changed. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! April 30, 201214 yr I use the Saitek yoke with throttle quadrant and the Saitek rudder pedels. Awesome stuff to virtually fly... brings you that much closer. http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/yoke.html http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/pedals.html "Arguing with a pilot is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while you begin to think the pig likes it."
April 30, 201214 yr I made no "custom" profiles and have never used the software included with these devices. What puzzles me is that for a few days, things "flew" without a glitch and then suddenly took on a new persona. I am expecting to find that they do it again. At least, I know what to do! John Wingold
