May 9, 201214 yr Voltage is at 1.425 Seems a bit steep honestly. I'd back down to 4.8GHZ and lower your Vcore to 1.36-1.37
May 10, 201214 yr Well using the asus software cpu temp is at 35 Celsius.. Voltage is at 1.425, vcore im not sure of.. Just run a test 5ghz ovclock HT off affinity mask 84 frame rate dropped from 45 to 42 for the fsxbench test.. turned Hyperthreading back on , affinity mask 14 frame rates back upto 45.. It seems ebuyer cant do late shipping on the MOBO I was looking at so will hold off on ordering for now.. Can you explain why you might go with IB3770k Z77 mobo over something like the i7 3820 on an x79 mobo, the later is more expensive and Im just thinking the old saying you get what you pay for.. If it costs more is it not better? It should be 14 for HT off and 84 for HT on. Regards Howard H D Isaacs
May 10, 201214 yr My new RAM and 680 are on the truck out for delivery today. Once I get them installed I'll begin the FSXMark 11 testing. Should have some numbers by early evening (perhaps 9-10 hours from now). A word of caution: AFAIK no one has done any FSXMark 11 testing with this hardware combination, so I believe it is a bit early to be making judgments on the platform's performance with so little information.
May 10, 201214 yr I believe it is a bit early to be making judgments on the platform's performance I agree. Let the numbers do the talking. Am looking forward to your results. Kind regards,

Tech, if possible can you also try different Nvidia drivers for the 680? My FSXMark tests were using the 301.10 driver and I saw a jump going to 301.24 drivers. I just haven't had the chance to wipe my FSX and do a clean install to verify. Just want to make sure I am not seeing things. :Big Grin:

May 10, 201214 yr I was just planning on going with the latest driver but I can do initial testing with the older driver and then update, sure. Thanks! I was flying the other night and just for giggles I ran Word Not Allowed's AA test and saw a bump in FPS from the earlier tests. I am curious if it was the newly updated drivers or something else. I will say DCS A-10 and BF3 both perform better with the 301.24 compare to the 301.10.

May 10, 201214 yr Update from the wife: parts have been delivered, and are eagerly awaiting installation (or am I eagerly awaiting?)
May 10, 201214 yr Update from the wife: parts have been delivered, and are eagerly awaiting installation (or am I eagerly awaiting?) Get those FSMark11 results in ASAP! :Big Grin: :Nerd:
May 11, 201214 yr Here's the first round of results with *all stock settings* (except turbo disabled) and the 310.10 driver (will be switching to 310.24 now and re-benching). I don't have anything other than Excel viewer so I can't upload official results, but here's the quick results, ran the test 4 times and took the average: Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg 9911, 300000, 18.75, 47, 32.715 Peak temp was 51 on Core 3, other 3 cores peaked at 44, 46, and 47. I'm also going to experiment with the Lucid Virtu MVP software as I believe it could be interfering. Will upload more results as I get them. In addition to overclocking I also need to swap out my RAM to the faster stuff I just got, not that I expect it to make a huge difference but we'll find out. Looks like performance will end up right in line with the faster Sandy Bridge systems, assuming I can hit at least 4.6GHz.
May 11, 201214 yr Tech, if you want to send the excel files to me I can make the officials for you. Also I disabled lucid all together on my board.
May 11, 201214 yr I have csv's if that works So far Lucid Virtu MVP "HyperFormance" appears to give a 1 FPS boost to minimum and maximum frame rates while average stays the same. Haven't observed any image quality or micro stuttering issues with it yet so I'll keep an eye out, will move on to 310.24 driver testing now and then swap out my RAM.
