Avidyne

Featured Replies

The Avidyne unit is the real FPS killer of this aircraft! Leave it off, run just your 430 or 400 and its every bit as smooth as the Duke. Carenado should do something about replacing this unit. Fantastic aircraft after patching, but this Avidyne has got to go! My FPS nearly doubled when I turned it off.

How did you manage this? By editing the panel.cfg? I did not find a switch to set the Ayidyne off.

Allways three greens,

Emcott,

I tell ya, I commended it totally out of the Panel.cfg and dissabled the C90_Gauge_wx or similar in the gauges folder and I have FULL fps back again, from about 20 back to locked 30 fps! I replaced the gauge with the RXP 530 and RXP 430 combo (mod found in the forums here)... like a dream!

And I discovered a second thing on MY rig here ... maybe somebody can prove back:

Try it, after you loaded the aircraft , load it a SECOND time from windowed mode in FSX and reswitch to fullscreen after you have done! I do this everytime and experience a much more fluid , less choppy gameplay with the C90B inside vc and outside view! Don´t know why it is in my case mandatory to get full fps everytime!

Best regards,

+1 For this wrinkly a little more detail as to how you did that would be appreciated.

Is this any different end product than using the power button as mentioned above?

I renamed the WX gauge in the FSX Gauges folder.

Just add .xxx to the dll extension.

Hello Andy,

I'm interested in bypassing the Avdyne like you did in the Panel.cfg. Could you please precise what lines you deleted ?

I already deleted the WX gauge in the gauge folder.

Many thanks.

Hello s.mellah!

that is what I did basically, I have some other panel.cfg as I also use the RXP 430/530 combo:

1.) do backups before deleting or editing some original files!!!

2.) deactivate the WX gauges as Bert described above.

3.) copy paste / exchange these section in your panel.cfg (and again please do backup before that all !!!)

So this would be the Panel.cfg for a standard NON-RXP-GNS-USE layout!

For the folks without any RXP gauges. Shouldn't it be possible to use the default Carenado GPS (lower slot) and the default 500 GPS instead of the Avidyne? A bit of a shame to see the Carenado work on the Avidyne gone, but if it helps you with the fps, maybe comment out the Avidyne and bring in the default 500 with the large screen. Just suggesting.

Thank you Andy,

I'm gonna try right away. Also...how much do you recommend investing in RXP gauges ? And if I should buy one of them it should be the

430 right ?

Thanks a lot and have a good weekend.

Wow that is very difficult to answer! I started with the RXP GNS 430 BUT as soon as I got used to it I bought the GNS 530 and the Unlimited Package , which is needed to get Crossfill option and use two of them seperate units at one time!

All in all, GNS 430 + 530 + Unlimited Package is about 200 USD , but it was one of my best deals ever made for FS2004 and FSX!

Why not start with one unit of your choice and continue to buy the other bit by bit  .

BTW, CooIP had a VERY good idea of packing in the default FSX GPS into the now "free space" of the Avidyne and I think would look neat too! :Nerd:

Am I the only one with very good frames rates?

I get better frames with the HD textures than the "lite" textures. These last ones bring my frames down 10 to 15 %.

I just purchased from flight1 and at a first glance the Avedine has very little if not any impact at all! I'm running this thing @ 20 frames and more on the ground at Orbx airports with Rex on a cloudy day.

I don't even have great specs, but I'm happy with the result!

I don't mean to highjack this thread but how can I tell I have the sp2 installed?

Thanks!
