QualityWings' next fs9-friendly release

Featured Replies

Hi

Of course you all know about this yet I am a bit surprised that Qwings' next projects are not so popular in many discussions, especially here in this forum since Qwings is still dedicated to fs9ers. I don't have the 757 series but to me it is not a flop. I watched some YT vids and IMO the 757's have very good models, nice VC and sound.. It has got Avsim Award too, so I assume it is not bad at all, well of course I stand corrected, I don't have it, what do I know?

Anyway, I visited their site and found out that they are in progress releasing BAe146 and Avro RJ series, and they are also fs9 compatible. It is 5% to go before they release it sometime this year. I wouldn't hope for new boeing or airbus aircraft to be released for fs9, so whatever comes in now, I should be thankful and should support them.

I quote this announcement from their forum

Hello folks,

Since the end of Q3 is coming closer, let us give you a little bit more information on the release of the BAe146/Avro RJ.

As I already indicated in some posts, we unfortunately won't be able to release at the end of September (end of Q3). To be honest, we underestimated some tasks of this project.

Overall I'd see the Avro Variant at about 95%, it's the last 5% which take the longest though.

Rather than making the mistake of a somewhat rushed release, we hope you understand that we prefer to take our time and do it properly instead.

Additionally, we decided to split up the release (not the package). What does this mean for you?

Release Stage 1:

Avro RJ70, RJ85 and RJ100 for FS9

Release Stage 2:

Avro RJ70, RJ85 and RJ100 for FSX

Release Stage 3:

BAe146-100, -200 and -300 for FS9 and FSX

The reason for this is the sheer size of this package. If we decided to release all at once, that would mean

we would throw three different panels with two different FMCs and two different Autopilot logics as well as six different exterior

models at our beta testers. All this for two Platforms (FS9 and FSX).

We decided that it's just too overwhelming for both, the beta crew and us to handle the workload.

Note:

Right from the beginning the product will be sold at the full price. All updates will come at no cost afterwards.

We know that some won't like the idea and might be afraid of never getting the promised updates.

For those we strongly recommend to wait until the complete product is available!

Timeframe-wise we're looking at a release of Stage 1 towards the end of Q4. You'll find out when beta testing starts.

so what do you think guys? shall we support them when it comes out :D ?? Ah, they also plan to release 787 too.

cheers

Avro and Bae are not my favorite aircrafts really but I like the way QW handle the situation which is much better than some "other" developers out there,at least they don't forget us (the Fs9 enthusiastttt).

Time will tell.

/I'm really looking foward to their 787

Hello

I have waited years for a good BAe 146 with VC to come along and it looks like we are now going to get two of them as the CLS one is getting close too.

I will be buying the QW version the day it is released.

I don't know much about the a/c either, but hey..it's jet and fs9-friendly

I am not sure about 787. If it's that easy, don't you think those "giants" would have create one? Abacus should be taken as a lesson. But yes, time will tell

Did you mean that CLS is designing one (fs9 compatible)? hoho, lemme check their site

This actually made a considerable sturr around here when Quality Wings announced that they will be developing a BAe146 for FS9 last year. We've all been patiently waiting for the release since. I'm looking forward to it!

Only thing I am not too happy about is this (from the requirements section on QW's site):

I wonder if they have achieved good selling with 757s since they continue supporting fs2004. Can this be a good argument that leaving fs2004 is not necessarily a good idea?

I think they did pretty good with the 757 for FS9. They must have been happy with the sales figures otherwise they would not have continued developing aircraft for FS9.

As for the arguments about not leaving FS9 development, that has been discussed to death - in the end its up to the developers. We can't really argue with them about what to do or worse - demand that they do this and that (this just results in resentment and problems). All we can do (and this is really effective) is demonstrate that there is indeed still a big interest in FS9 add-ons.

Some payware developers have demonstrated a wish to develop for FSX only (and there isn't much that can be done to convince them otherwise), others feel that FS9 payware development is still viable and worth it.

Indeed, and I wasn't trying to provoke why they stopped supporting fs9 thou. I'm so excited and eagerly anticipating more aircraft add ons to be released by 2 remaining developers.

I'll be very keen to get the BAE 146 from QW, it's quite an interesting aircraft, and that model looks superb. If the systems are up to normal QW standard, I'm definitely in.

I'm also actually really excited for the Avro and 787 series - backing up what Momtchil said, they must have seen impressive figures with their 75' (which I adore) for them to move against all of the other mainstream developers.

It seems really like a smart move anyway, to develop for FS9. It'll take up more time and resources (and money) but the profit now that other developers have moved on will be astonishing for something like a T7 or a full Airbus series.

Also their quality is just amazing in the 75'. Just saying

Only just got back in to flight simming and Avsim after a year or so - pardon me whilst I find my feet again!

And as far as i know they haven't mentioned anything about "simplifying" the BAe-Avro, which to me, is one step forward. I don't know how "simple" QW 757 is thou

Oh dear! The BAe 146 is one of my favourite jet airliners and I was getting ready with my credit card. But having read this I'm putting it back in my wallet. Whilst I understand the purpose of online activation I absolutely refuse to have my (continued) use of a product determined by someone else who can deactivate my purchase with a click of a mouse.

I know what you mean. Have similar feelings towards this.

Remember when PSS closed up shop? All the online installers stopped working.
